I have heard good things about this, but isn't this stuff built into Chevrons fuel additive package anyways? If I use their fuel on most fillups is their really any reason to use this.

This stuff seems to work well, especially if you dont regularly use top tier fuel. In my "beater" truck I use whatever is cheap then add 20 oz of this to half a tank of fuel

If you use high quality fuel like Shell VPower this may or may not help as much because the higher quality fuels supposedly already have detergents, solvents, etc.

Advance Auto seems to be having this same sale too....4.99 per bottle on the website but you cant use any coupons.

Yes, this. I dont have Chevron near me so I cant get quite the same, but I use cheap fuel for my beater and Shell VPower (probably equivalent to Chevron) for our nice cars

Shell and Chevron are not equivalent but similar in that they are both Top Tier. Actually Costco has Top Tier gas as well. with the exception of Chevron nearly everyone else gets gas from the same refineries. There is a standard (don't know it off the top of my head) which defines minimum standards for gas in each region (CA is diff from AZ for instance). Then defines amount and type of additives to make it "top tier". Costco like most top tier gas stations adds theirs at the station. A few (like Shell I think) add at the truck. Chevron ships top tier from the refinery.

there are pipelines all over the US pumping gasoline to various distribution centers. each refinery adds x gallons of gasoline which meets the minimum standard to the pipeline and gets a credit. then their truck drains x gallons off at one of the distribution outlets but it's never the actually gasoline they pumped in so the gas going in will never exceed minimum standards. then they either deliver "as is" to non top tier or add additives to the truck or station tanks to make it into top tier. again their are minimum standards to be top tier but since each station is selling only their variant of top tier they actually do change the formulas quite significantly. Chevron has long since been considered the best of the best with Shell recently occupying a sold second place.

sorry for the dissertation.

probably his tank size equates to 1/2 for that size bottle of additive. just read the instruction on the bottle.

Be careful using these concentrated fuel additives on a regular basis. They can damage the o-rings on your fuel lines and cause them to leak. Personally, I wouldn't use fuel additives more than once or twice a year if that. Change your fuel filter according to your vehicles service schedule and always use a quality replacement filter. Going directly into the intake with a combustion chamber cleaner [amazon.com] is a more effective and direct way to remove build up and doesn't involve the fuel lines under a vehicle that are prone to leaking.

Worst advice I have seen on here.

Many times. That's the only time I buy it.

You don't have a clue about what you are talking about. Cleaning through the intake is more effective at removing carbon build up. In fact using water [youtube.com] in the intake will do a lot for cleaning up carbon without compromising the fuel lines that can leak when you use solvents.
