review of the model with a 1366x768 display and an SSHD
if they use the same FHD panel from their V5s it should have better display performance with regard to brightness and contrast

It's maddening! I just started school and have chosen to just trek to my Dad's house to use his computer because I can't decide which bullet I want to bite!

I know and effectively at that, I have seen you post numerous times, and not just post but give explanations with jargon that I can't comprehend.

What I am getting at is this, would you recommend any models/brands/specs to look for while shopping for a new laptop? I don't want to pay over 500, but would definitely look into alternatives like a graphics card or something for a lower scale laptop.

Buddy, you might get a laptop with graphics card at a lower price, probably some Lenovo models, but I am not sure about the built quality. Also getting a laptop with full HD Display, latest generation Core i5 like 5th Gen and 6th Gen and a good dedicated graphics card below $500 is very very hard.
This particular model has very positive reviews from all the reviewers and $500, it is a steal in my opinion. But still, for your satisfaction, I am providing you two review links below which are more or less jargon free Smilie.
Read those before you make your decision.

In fact PCMag has selected it as Editors' Choice midrange desktop-replacement laptop

You are late to pull the trigger..But if you are willing to pay extra $50, then pre order the other one coming with 6th Generation Core i5 6200 @ $550.
