It's back! Great deal.

Please note the sink drain part is more shiny than a stainless steel sink, almost a chrome finish. For those of you that are picky about your drain matching the rest of the sink.

We bought this last year when our "contractor special" In-Sink-Erator rusted through and started leaking. It is very quiet compared to the old one but has some serious torque and shakes the whole sink a lot if you turn it on while mostly plugged. It is also VERY large compared to our old one (wider and 3-4" taller).

Anyone know if this can be used on a septic-based (not tied to sewer utility) system? TIA

Our disposal has been acting up since xmas - been on the lookout for a good replacement before it totally goes. Was looking more towards some of the insinkerators, but not going to pass up on this deal. In for 1, thanks!

For those who have one can you tell me how loud the unit is while it's grinding and if you run it without food in it? I just placed an order for an insinkerator that was $220, but chose it because the reviews say it's very quiet. My kitchen is open to the living room so I would prefer a quiet one.

I recently purchased a house that uses a septic system. I was NOT going to use a disposal per the standard recommendations that you should not use one. That said, after some research, I have recently changed my mind and I am installing one. I plan on having my system pumped regularly so I am not worried about the "build-up" aspect. I also am not one of those people that thinks EVERYTHING can go down the disposal. They are not garbage cans so you just have to make sure you don't treat it like one. I'd say 95%+ of the disposal issues/malfunctions are due to people misusing them.
They also have a disposal that is made for septic systems that has an enzyme additive that you put in it that is supposed to help break down things in your tank. I was debating getting that, but I really don't think it is necessary. Just be smart and make sure you are well aware of what you should and shouldn't put down the disposal.

If your current disposal is more than a few years old, just buy this for when it breaks. Great price!

It's much quieter than the standard builder grade badger. Not quite as quiet as the one you just bought, but for $130+ savings I think a few dBs won't make a difference.
