Panasonic Plasma Lip sync problem (audio delay)

Dealseeker16 1,721 100 June 16, 2008 at 10:56 PM
I bought a Panasonic Plasma TV recently and noticed on a lot of channels especially the HD channels I have a lip sync (audio delay) problem. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this or if it is fixable? I didnt see any settings that can adjust the audio delay under the audio settings. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Also, I found some software upgrades for my TV. http://www.pasctraining.panasonic...Plasma.ASP

Why would I upgrade the D-board firmware? What is a D-Board?

Upgrading is always fun, just follow the directions and try it out.

Anyways are you running your sound through a headunit? I have noticed lag sometimes in that area. Also are you connected via hdmi?

I have some lag from my satellite receiver connecting to the tv via hdmi and to the 5.1 audio receiver via optical cable. It's not noticable unless you really pay attention.

It sounds like you are using your built-in tv speakers. I would suggest running a video/audio line to a spare tv and see if the problem exists. It might be an issue with the cable/satellite receiver and not your tv.

Also, while not a cheap way to test, run the audio to a 5.1 audio receiver or whatever you have or maybe a buddy has and see if that is a reasonable solution.

I'll try and think of a few other options as well.

thanks for the advice. Right now the TV is just running off the wall cable line. Standard cable. I am picking up HD channels via the QAM Tuner. some channels are lagging and others not so much. I think it may just be the Broadcast Network. I am looking for a PnP surround sound for now

I noticed a lip sync problem the other night which would occur a couple of minutes into a show we were watching. I fixed it by changing channels then coming back - something I had to do several times during the evening. I think it has to do with the feed from our cable company (Verizon). If you're not seeing this on all channels, then most likely it is not your TV.

usually it is the cable (satellite) box itself having an issue.

my dtv box will do this occasionally.

usually while watching one hdtv channel and recording another.

not al the time either, more likely when signal strenght is low due to poor weather and the box is doing more processing due to missed signals.

My DTV Box does this alll the time, quite annoying. I've spoken to multiple levels of tech support until someone finally told me it's a known bug. A google search confirmed this issue, they are working on a firmware update atm. I'm assuming it's your broadcast as well. Damn wireless HD Big Grin
