Sold by newegg so I think there's tax in CA.

One of the lowest prices I've seen on this modem.

I did this as well. People are adverse to refurb - but this is a mistake. In manufacturing the inspection process on new builds is a far less than on refurb units. A unit is returned to the facility for repair and must go through a process to determine the problem which by default is a more in-depth inspection. Also, often repairs are not done at component level - they will swap a board out, test and mark it refurb. I buy refurb products often and have never had a single issue - new units are another story.

Walmart had refurbished model for $45 few times. It used to last for few minutes/hours. I grabbed one of those for replacing TWC rental modem. using for around one month. So far no problem. going strong. Recommend this model. Price is not the best though.

Maybe $60-65, seeing that the SB6141 I bought recently on sale was $54.99. Anything above that is way too much for a modem. I'd rather use the extra money for a good router.

I would love some guidance from you more tech inclined people (compared to me, that's not saying much!).

I have Comcast's 105 plan with this modem: http://m.newegg.com/Product/index...6825188005
and this router: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/produ...UTF8&psc=1

At night our speeds dip down to anywhere between 10 and 20 mb/s and makes running plex very choppy.

Would upgrading to this modem while keeping the same router help with this? And is it worth upgrading to an ac router if I got this modem where we have a few phones and tablets, Chromecast, and 2 fire sticks, and stream Netflix or Plex on 4 devices at once max.

Thanks for the help!

This is a good router/6183 modem deal, picked it up a couple weeks ago and my speeds have been maxed out anytime of the day. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Com...448&cm_sp=
