I am all to support SD with commercials , I will even click and such but when the video commercials kick in and the sound is blasting in the office ... Adblock comes to town.

@look30, it's a known issue that keeps cropping up. Please report to the mods and they will work with programmers to try and close the gap:

Hi,
I did point this thread out to the ad procuring department. They despise these sneaky ads as well.
The more details or screen shot etc that you can provide helps us let the ad batch seller look into which of its clients did the deed. They are very hard to pinpoint but the guys on this end have been doing a great job of helping to nip it in the bud.

Even simpler way to help is to just tell the mods what advertiser has auto-play videos. No need to screen shot/capture - they can hunt it down from there.

It's definitely a whack-a-mole Bash for now, but mods definitely knock 'em down once notified.

Actually mods have zero control over the ads and can't track them down, sorry.

doublewood is our go-to guy for fighting this stuff so it helps to quote him and let him know.
Of course, since I am here I am going to give him a heads up on this now.

Hey everyone,

We typically catch the bad guys through an automated scanning system, which is why it makes me think that it could have been a legitimate ad that was accidentally incorrectly coded by the advertiser or their creative shop to have auto-audio. We also block auto-play video ads which run through an in-banner video player because they slow down loading. Either way, there are times when a bad ad can slip through the scanning, which is when the whack-a-mole situation can happen as megakimcheelove said.

Many times these ad issues are resolved really quickly and even sometimes without us having to intervene. I spent a good chunk of time this Sunday investigating an offending ad to find out that it was detected and blocked from serving without having to take any additional action.

While ad revenue is necessary for independent websites to survive and grow, we respect our community because we are all Slickdealers too. We don't allow any intrusive or malicious advertising and do our best to keep it clean. Overall, issues with ads are very rare. I definitely encourage you guys to let us know if you see anything intrusive.

Thanks!
