A bit off topic, but for you music fans I have a question. I was listening to an online music/radio streaming website a few months ago, and the person hosting the playlist had a playlist that was all relaxing/chill instrumental music. Great music to listen to when trying to be productive. A few bands I could only describe as oriental instrumental music was pretty awesome. Anyone know of any bands that have music like this. Again, the entire playlist was instrumental music but it wasn't dull classical music crap, it was actually lively and upbeat. Any ideas. I tried a google search the other day and I literally could not find any bands that meet the description. That website was shutdown too. Frown

The best way I could describe the music would be a track like this (incubus ftw btw):

I believe you are describing is either Zen/Meditation music and/or the Chill or Lounge sector of EDM. I often times "listen" to these genre (or classical) at night because they are exactly as their respective names describes them.

Try making that Incubus song a Pandora station and go from there.

Yes, that's it! Its like electronic music but chill and awesome. When I would listen to the music on this one site I would save the artists for keeping for later, but then the entire website was shutdown. This one dude had a station that was titled something like "chill relaxing music" and his selection was outstanding. Hundreds of songs from bands I've mostly never heard of. Ugh, I wish I could find another station like that.

It's not exactly what I was looking for but that sounds pretty cool. I'll have to check that out further.

You may want to check out compilations by Claude Challe, Ravin and Visan, particularly the very popular Buddha Bar series - they are chillout downtempo and ambient with an emphasis on ethnic and oriental music, some albums and compilations are available on Spotify. Another label to check is Bar De Lune which releases compilations like Buddha Chillout, Karma Lounge, Punjabi Lounge and a few others. Plus, anything by Nitin Sawhney.

If you really like some of these albums check out the right side of the page and some of the artists have more albums and songs.

In that case, check out the following compilations/artists: Kamasutra Lounge, Susheela Raman, J. Boogie's Dubtronic Science, Afra Thi, The Album Leaf (the song "Twentytwofourteen" is one of the most beautiful things I've heard...that goes for most any genre), Bali Lounge, Bella Sonus (particularly "Crimson Sands"). If these suit your taste let me know and I'll look up a few more that I enjoy (I keep a list of em' because they are reasonably obscure and somewhat unusual)...
