I was really tempted to spend the extra money (a lot of extra in this case) and avoid some of the pitfalls identified with these LGs, but this is a damn good deal

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this is one of those 120hz 'effective' deals. Not saying it's a deal breaker at all, just wanted to point it out in case anyone didn't realize.

We have a 48 inch LG that we got last year, and while it's certainly been great for us, it too is only 60hz. You get the effective 120hz by turning on LG's ''TruMotion''. While we usually leave it off because we hate the 'Soap Opera' effect that it causes when watching tv and movies... you sort of have to have it while watching a football game or fast-moving sporting event.

I'm certainly no TV expert though, just trying to help. I could be mistaken!
