Thread Details

Some of us have spent the past few weeks stuffing contest entries into envelopes for IHG points. I thought this offer might sweeten some of those "pots" that may not be quite full enough.

1. 60,000 isn't that slick. They'll somewhat regularly have 70,000 & 80,000 promos.
2. You needed the card to do the envelope stuffing deal.

Otherwise this is a great card. The free night for $49 annual fee is a fantastic deal. I used mine this year for a room that is normally $450 a night.

ANY MasterCard to enter the contest. You still have time -- they need to be postmarked by Monday 2/15. No -- 60,000 is not superslick -- and maybe it would be worth waiting for 70 or 80 -- in the past they offered it about once a year. I thought it could help someone who needed or wanted more points than they got with the contest. Like you said -- the free night for the $49 fee is the fantastic part of it. Some of the rooms available are 3 or more times that amount.

Monday 2/15 is President's Day, so post office will be closed.

I had an IHG card before, cancelled last year (few months ago) and was given an 80K offer when I logged in to check on my mailed off 500 points each winnings.

So, I signed up for 80K more. (it's been over 24 months since my last bonus)

Nice. I plan to keep looking for an offer like that. I love that free night benefit -- gives that $49 fee some value. I had a USAir card and was supposed to get a free flight every year -- but it was only good on flights flown by USAir and none of the partners -- and I couldn't get out without a partner flight. Completely not worth keeping.

I have an IHG card and my wife as a associate cardholder. Is she eligible for the promotion? Or do I have to remove her from my account and wait for 24 months?

Your wife can get one too. We both have one.
It's best to get on alternating years so that one year one gets the bonus points and the other gets the free night. Not everywhere takes the free night voucher and you can use that on higher point hotels and save your points for lower ones.
