pretty sure ATT and Verizon Moto X 2nd gen are stuck on 5.1 lollipop and will not be getting marshmallow...according to MOtoorola

- Verizon:
Has an unlockable bootloader via official Motorola website;
It's GSM unlocked out-of-the-box;
Has less bands than ATT for tmobile

more detail
LTE 2 / 3 / 4 / 7 / 13
WCDMA 1 / 2 / 5 / 8
CDMA 850 / 1900
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

- ATT
Bootloader is not officially unlockable, but Sunshine supports it (25 USD);
Can easily be unlocked via ATT website;

850/900/1700/1900/2100 2/3/4/5/7/17/29

CASHBACK : DISCOVER 5% (10% if signed up for double cashback)

I'm seeing $99.

Thoughts:
  • This is the 2nd Generation and not the 1st Generation, surprisingly. The 2nd Generation was released in September 2014.
  • It looks like it's a contract-less smartphone.
  • If you're uncertain about ordering it and need time to decide, order for store pickup, then decide later.
  • I have been using this smartphone - but 32GB and for T-Mobile - since December 2014, and I am really happy with it. I upgraded to the newest Android version, 6.0 Marshmellow, in December 2015.
  • At this price point, I think it'll hit Frontpage shortly.
