how long will sears hold something that you buy? there are often good sears sale items, but not quite good enough to make a trip for (like the hex to square adapters for $1.50 the other day). I would really like to just do a "monthly pickup" or something like that because i pass on so many deals.

any suggestions?

My store pickup confirmation email states that orders will be cancelled if they are not picked up after 30 days. So quite a long time!

These might be too tall for some people's needs and most people don't need 4 tons of capacity. But if they fit for your application, they have more room for error and misuse than the smaller ones.

True, but the cheap ones have about a dozen potential points of failure on each stand. There's always the 3 ton when they're on sale, too.

True, they are overkill for any sedan. But they aren't really that much taller than the 2-ton stands. We're talking about around 1.5 inches of minimum height difference: 10.6'' vs. 12''

If I haven't already bought the lighter duty ones (last year's deal), I'd be tempted to get these. Seems like a decent deal.

Fyi, here are the specs for those interested:

Overall Dimensions:8.75 x 7.5 in.
Item Weight (lbs.):184
General Warranty:1 Year
Quantity in Set:2
Minimum Height (in.):12
Maximum Height (in.):17.312

Nice!! Lowest price I ever saw on these. These are excellent stands - real sturdy. They usually hit FP whenever they drop below $30 for the pair. I have two pairs of these and they look just like new after nearly two years of oil changes, tire rotations and other DIY maintenance. Highly recommended.

For those who feel they might be too tall, I use them for our Miata without any issues - so it should be just fine with sedans as long as you get the car high enough for the stand to slide under. I use the HF 3-Ton Low Profile Steel Jack [harborfreight.com], another VFM product that can be had for about $70-$80 with coupons.

That 1.5 inches can make it or break it when using a small jack like the recent deal on a 1.5 ton at Home Depot. If you have a big jack with plenty of lift height, then it probably doesn't matter much.

I have those cheapies and they have their place. I typically use them on my smaller cars or when I'm putting a project up for a long period of time and don't want to tie up my nice jackstands.
