$25 cheaper than anywhere else like Amazon, Muscians Friend, and Sweetwater. Great reviews on all those sites too. I am in for one to use with Rocksmith.

My gf sings and plays keyboard. She wants something she can plug a mic into and hear herself to prepare for performances. Would this be good for that?

It doesn't have a mic-in, but it does have a 3.5mm line-in. This has stereo speakers (which is how they get the reverb effect that everyone raves about - but also some degree of harshness that other people complain about), not just a a guitar speaker. This allows you to play mp3s through the speaker.

As to whether it is good specifically for voice is a different question and one I don't have an answer to. I'd figure that I would at least let you know how this amp is different from other guitar amps. I do have this speaker but I don't have a mic (or know of one that would fit into a 3.5mm jack - which isn't a computer mic, etc.).

Hopefully that is of some help. I personally think that if you are trying to get a speaker for your girlfriend who sings, then there are other better suited speakers out there.

Thanks for the help! That does help. I did some quick googling, and found that I should search for a "portable PA". There are some that come with mics already, a little more spendy than this unit but I suppose better suited for her needs.

Thanks again!

You probably want something with at least a little reverb or delay otherwise it will sound rather "dry". I'm not too sure about mini PA speakers having that feature though (things may have changed in the last few years though), but they do make small vocal effects processors last I checked that are fairly inexpensive which you put in line later if she desires. I'll pretty much echo the same thing the other guy was saying, guitar amps in general sound like carp with vocals running through them; used to be in a couple of bands back in the day and it doesn't really work that well (even in a pinch). Trouble with guitar amps is that even if you can find one that plays clean enough, they have a somewhat limited frequency response (not too great upper highs) which makes vocals sound stuffy and nasal. Guitar amps can sound decent for keyboards (especially if you want a somewhat retro sound), but even then you are most likely better off getting one which is made for keyboard.

Bought one of these a month or so ago. $75 is an absolute steal for this. A perfect practice amp and definitely loud enough for a living room or bedroom.

Not a tube amp? The talk of 2 x5 watts made me think tube.

I have this amp. The sound is OK, but it's extremely quiet and the gain is hard to adjust. The effects and other bells and whistles are terrible and useless. I replaced my little Marshal practice amp for this based on amazon reviews. Huge mistake. Get a brand name practice amp, this is crap.

This is about as far from a tube amp as you can get Wink

It is 2x5 because it has 2 speakers.
