Excellent review/benchmarks of AMD FX-series CPUs. I suspect that the FX-8310 will perform similarly to the FX-8370E. The article is in French, so use Google Translate [google.com].

AMD FX-8370E, a 95-Watt 8-core FX-Series Test [hardware.fr]

Most interestingly, the average application performance ("Moyenne applicative" graph) shows the FX-8370E to be virtually dead even with the i5-4670K on this battery of tests.

Yes. The processor is roughly on par with an older desktop i7 or a newer desktop i5. (Cue the AMD haters.) At $400 it's a great deal.

No. It would feel like playing it on an xbox 360. I mean you can play it at 1280x720 low settings, but you need a beefier GPU. The CPU is fine though.

This is a really good deal for a basic-use computer. The 8 gigs of RAM and decent processor will tear up web pages, photo editing and light gaming. Due to the AMD processor and craptastic video, no Fallout 4, no GTA V and no Witcher 3 for this rig.

By the way, you have '1 TB HDD' in the title of this thread, when the machine comes with a 2 TB HDD.

I've been curious about this and have yet to find anything $400 or under that sounds like it'd work well for GTA 5. I'm mostly interested in experiencing all the singleplayer mods which I'd imagine are also taxing on the system so I'm being patient for now.

CPU would be ok, gpu need to go, invest a R9 380 on CL for $100 you can play pretty much most modern game on high setting (not max)

Its not really hate? AMD processors are cheaper than intel for a reason. they aren't as good.

So I saw 8 core. got excited. and then saw AMD and then less so.

For an everyday kind of computer its pretty nice. For hardcore gaming or intense computing you should hold out.

Excited for 8 cores? Why? What game are you gonna be using 8 cores for? Most, if not all, games are optimized by 4 cores, not 8. For hardcore gaming, a 4 core multithreaded processor is much better than any 8. For an everyday computer, this is a good deal.
