Editor's Notes & Price Research

These speakers designed by Andrew Jones feature a top firing concentric driver w/ 4" woofer and 1/2" tweeter. Refer to the forum thread for more information on compatible receivers. Also there are a couple reputable 3rd party Amazon fullfilled sellers at the same price if that is of preference (on the right under "Other Sellers on Amazon"). -johnny_miller

This is a great Atmos solution for a highly reviewed speaker. I have been price watching for awhile. Lowest ever by a long-shot on CCC. I have the Andrew Jones Bookshelves, and they are great!

I bought a pair of these for my Denon Atmos 7.2 receiver. Calibrated Audyssey and listened to a bunch of content. I could tell no difference whatsoever with or without the height speakers, so I returned them and went back to traditional 7.2.

Should I pass on these if I have the older edition center and towers?

No! It really depends on your AVR. If it is not Atmos capable, these won't really do you any good. I am getting ready to upgrade my entire setup to Atmos so these will come in handy. I have older centers and towers and as well.

this is a really good price for these. but before you dive in read up on Atmos. I bought the focal little birds for not much more and the angles are adjustable. but they are not as sunken in like the pioneers to avoid leakage. they are also not as stable on their stands and do not blend in as well, but either of the two solutions mentioned are better than the onkyo options which are only 1 4" full range driver

Finally went down in price, at $200 that was way too much. I'll bite when they hit $99. Still dont have an atmos receiver so no rush.

so would these replace the traditional left/right fronts? Are they to be mounted up high? I have a capable receiver and also the older Andrew Jones towers and center. I have 4 surrounds mounted in the ceiling. I wouldn't want to give up a pair of the surrounds to add these but wouldn't mind replacing the towers as my wife hates looking at them. Thanks for any info

can you pair these with any speaker? or do they have to be the matching Pioneer towers?

I've got Polk Monitor 75Ts in the front.

These would be added to your existing setup, not replacing anything. They are meant to add an overhead ambience to your movies by "shooting" the sound at your ceiling to be reflected back down on you. It is a thrilling feeling to hear that extra level of sound but this is still a bit high (in my opinion). We'll see them drop to $99 sometime within the year, but this is admittedly the best price at the moment.

A lot of people are saying you have to do +6-+8 on whatever Audyssey says to get the 'effect'. Kind of like how most people go 4-6 up on the sub.

Mad Max. TMNT. San Andreas. John Wick. Transformers Age of Extinction.
some more. google for a list of movies.

Not a whole lot, but I just ran Mad Max Fury Road today and man, that movie screams when it's processed properly from an Atmos receiver.
