If this was available at the time, I probably would have gone this route over the previous FP Dell 7559 with the i7 and a 1080 screen directly from Dell..

The quad i5 would have been enough for what I use my laptop for and that screen would have looked really nice.

Oh well. When you finally buy something, there is something that comes along later.

Tempting. I could actually do without the Ultra HD screen if it meant a longer battery life :/

I have nearly the same specs, except i7, SSD, and more memory. Gaming is pretty good although I didn't do much more than put it through its paces. The keyboard is big for a laptop, and the screen is sharp even with touch function.

My keys are backlit, a feature I did not see mentioned here.

This is great. You're practically exchanging the i7 in the previous deal from Dell for an i5 and a better screen with touch. Both are amazing options and it just depends on what you value or need more.

This one's perfect for me as I have a 5820k on my main PC.

You're only taxed in New York and New Jersey on this for anyone wondering.

I'm a little behind on tech for computers these days ... what purpose does the 8 GB SSD/flash do?

Google sshd - solid state hybrid drive.

Not much difference between it and a regular drive. It is supposed to recognize files you open often and store it on the flash portion to speed it up. Great in theory, not so great in real world performance.

Most people throw in a SSD to speed it up. Once you put your OS on one, you can't go back. Wink
