You are probably better off applying for the IHG credit card for 60k(?) miles.

Buying miles/points is generally not a great deal.

Found this link that has a lot of good info on IHG points: http://travelisfree.com/2014/07/2...g-rewards/

I posted a link about a week or two ago for the Chase IHG credit card:
https://creditcards.chase.com/cre...-card.aspx

Enjoy a free night each year of card membership at over 4,900 hotels worldwide
Earn 5 points for each $1 spent at our hotels
Earn 2 points per $1 spent on purchases at gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants
Bonus points redeemable at hotels such as Intercontinental(R) Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza(R) Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn(R)

There's often a 80K IHG credit card offer if you poke around the web a bit.

Save for special circumstances, (ie. special event in town has jerked up normal room rate ala Kentucky Derby weekend) buying the points legally from IHG, points.com, etc. is generally going to be more expensive than just paying room rate. And even during the occasional '100% bonus points with purchase' offer is still not usually going to be cost-effecrtive.

Buying through third party channels (ie. paying someone to use their points to make a reservation for you) is against IHG's terms & conditions and they will close accounts where they have evidence it's going on.

Too bad you missed the Priceless Surprises promo deadline by about a week because that was a cheap, if time-consuming to pick up a bunch of easy points.

I have been toying with getting the card as I did the Priceless Surprises. Sent in at almost last minute and have not heard back on any yet.

Found the 80000K points link but it says the offer is not available and sends you to a 60,000 link. If anyone finds an active one, please post it. There are a couple of posts on the Finance forum that the link doesn't work unless you are logged into your IHG account or in private browsing mode -- but I tried both with no success.

Special 100% bonus points when purchased offer- February 25-26 only. Points.com is a legit agent for selling these, so map out and see if the redemption options you want would make the purchase worth it.
