Let's say 6 nights at a 3-4 star hotel/condo. What's a reasonable price if leaving in June and staying at the western side of Maui? Flying out from SFO.

Expedia is showing about $3200 for 4 people. Had to pay more for the flight for earlier arrival. Don't think I can do much if I arrive at night like 10:00 PM.

Virgin America which is a great airline had deals flying from SFO to OGG Maui yesterday. i would see if that is still going on. then see what kind of deal you can get for a room.

Are you looking for a package with hotel and air or separate? Look for flights on Hawaiian, Alaskan, American, United, too. They fly that route. Check nearby airports. We have not flown out of SFO but have gone out of Phoenix and LAX -- not that either of them are close.

We looked at hotel accommodations in Maui and ended up buying a timeshare at resale on the condition that we could stay the particular week we were going. It cost the same price as a hotel for the week and has a kitchen and sleeps 4. Bought it about 10 years ago and have been pretty happy with it.

I tried the package deal at Expedia and Travelocity. I think the cheapest is about $3500-3800 for four with car rental. I was hoping to score something like $2500. I am just waiting for the plane ticket to drop.

I am eyeing these two.
