Thread Details

Brickseek shows some Targets with a price of $74.70, none in stock (occasionally still in stock). After speaking to a [newer] guest services associate and confirming the price with the dcpi (ask them if they could look up an item and only give them the DCPI), I ordered online with a store pickup.

The woman at the desk when I picked up the order & requested price adjustment(return/rebuy) was unable to locate the item in the store system. I showed her the information from Brickseek; she apologized and said she'd be happy to honor the price!!

With tax, the total was $80.03, and depending on your utility company, may be eligible for a $75 rebate... leaving a grand toal of $5.03 for a total savings of: $261.40!!!

Again, I am referring the 3rd gen, NOT 2nd gen. The dcpi is 085-00-0385. Check Brickseek; if any Target in your area has the $74.70 price listed, it's DEFINITELY worth investigating.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Thanks OP. I would like to find out how much the rebate is for MI state. How do I check this?

My apologies; I searched for Nest and wasn't able to find that post. Only a post for the 2nd gen model.

Has anyone had success buying one at full price, then trying to return at a store that has the clearance price and then buy it at the clearance price?

I would start calling. Call the store, press 0, ask the operator to transfer you to guest services. Ask politely if they could look up an item with the DCPI (if they ask for the name of item, still just give them the dcpi). If it comes up at the 74.70 price, even if they have none in stock, just ask if they'd do a price adj. Order online with store pickup at the 249 price, and give it a shot. Worst case, you can always return the item if they're unwilling to adjust the price.

That's exactly what I described Smilie paid 249 online, the woman at guest services honored the clearance price after I showed her the info on Brickseek.

And here we go again...

This deal is dead in Chicago, as the stores that have it for $74.70 will not allow return/rebuy.

South Loop inventory is always incorrect.

I wouldn't consider it return fraud. It's not like they are paying $75 for it then returning it for $250 credit. If that was the case then yeah, I'd agree.

I see a few stores close to me with the $75 price but no stock. Not sure I want to deal with it but if others can get it to work, awesome deal.

That worked for me, it all depends on the rep you are dealing with at the point of return/rebuy.
