Not sure if anyone can help me or not but thought I just post my problem.
I am currently overseas. I received a copy of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom pain for Christmas for PS4. I did not play it at the time. About 2 weeks ago I tried to play it for the first time and it does not load to the main menu. So, I tried it on a buddies PS4 out here and found out it does not work on his either. I had my family make contact with the seller of the game and since it is 30 days from the purchase they refuse to do anything. My brother no longer has the receipt. The game loads to the main menu on both of them and then gets the same error about it being corrupt data please delete the game and reinstall. So I have come to the conclusion the disc is defective. I can connect to the internet with my ps4 if I need to. But this was all done offline. I downloaded the latest patch for it at home and it didn't work. Then I deleted the game data and tried from scratch and still didn't work. So I am fairly sure it is the disc itself. Needless to say customer service tells me it is because of where I am and not the disk. Finally they won't help me without an image of the receipt.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kyle: Dude! I almost thought those Afghani kids talked you into not liking America.
Stan: No, dude. America may have some problems, but it's our home. Our team. And if you don't wanna root for your team, then you should get the hell out of the stadium.
Kyle: Yeah.
Stan: <salutes the American flag> Go America.
Kyle: <salutes> Go America...
Stan: Go Broncos
Kyle: Yeah go Broncos.
Cartman: Yeah...

What is the specific error?
Have you tried to install any other games since this occurred?

I start the game and it begins to load then I get a blue screen saying the game data is corrupted. Delete and re-install the game data. I have tried this, as stated. I patched it and tried. Deleted the patch and game data and tried it. Then went to my co-workers out here and tried it on theirs. Same error.

Specially it states. "Cannot continue using the application. The data for the following applications is corrupted. Delete the application from the PS4, and then inserst the disc again". I can also hear the disc stop spinning and start up again over and over.

Do you notice any scratches or gouges on the disc? Blu-rays have a durabis coating that make them fairly resilient but it's still possible some damage to the disc is causing these types of errors. If not, then take a close look at the disc label and packaging to make sure it's not counterfeit. I've seen some very convincing bootlegs in the past so I wouldn't rule that out either.

Not sure how it works on the PS4, but I would set up my Xbox to download the game and install that instead of installing from the disc. The game itself could not allow a proper install but it might work just fine once you get to the point where it just needs it as a physical DRM key.

If your bro bought it with a CC, the retailer might print out a receipt for you as an "assist in a warranty claim".

Shut your face!

I may have not read it carefully...

Ok, I will try to be "helpful"

Here is what I would do (note: this will get half the GL mad because it is "fraud")

Step 1: Go to Walmart
Step 2: Buy new copy of the game
Step 3: Return old copy of the game to Walmart with receipt gained from step 2

I wish I could do that. However, once again. I am currently deployed overseas in AFG. Konami has told me I wouldn't have to send the game, They just need a image of the receipt to send a new copy out here.

OH! Ok... what if your family member goes to walmart. Buys the game. Takes a pic of the receipt. Then sends that to you?

Not sure I am understanding that. But If I don't put the disc in it will not download it. If I go to the PSN, I have to purchase the digital copy to download it without the disc inside.

I do appreciate your quick responses and trying to help. I have thought of that however, if will have the date for within 30 days. Therefore they will tell me to defer and take the game back to the store and not to them.
