Storage to expand my home media server

Stupidmop 216 15 February 26, 2016 at 08:32 AM
I've been running a Windows based home media server to support for years and recently have started running out of storage space with my two 1.5TB mirrored storage.

I'm looking for two reliable internal hard drives of 4TB or larger. I'm not ruling out any brands as I've had success with Seagate, WD, HGST and Samsung, just no WD Green basic low level crap please Smilie

I do currently allow my current storage to go into power save when I'm not using them, but I'm willing to keep them going 24/7 if that's best practice for some of the "NAS" type storage.

Lastly I'm a little flexible on price, but ideally don't want to spend more than $200 a drive.

Thanks in advance!

For reliability, HGST then Seagate (according to the cloud service BackBlaze).

Found this:

HGST 4GB for $110 (w/o coupon)

Even without a coupon code it seems like a pretty solid deal. Has a 1 per household limit, but I'm sure I can work around that with having my wife order one and deliver it to her workplace.
