Thread Details

I just bought a couple Android set top boxes to play around with. I have a little bit of experience with Android 4.2 on a phone/tablet, but haven't used a set top box before.

Specs: Quad core cortex A9r4 processor Octo core Mali 450 GPU
Kitkat 4.4 802.11n Bluetooth 4.0

If any of you have experience with Android set top boxes, I was hoping you might be able to answer 3 questions:

1) what's the best gamepad to use for gaming on it?

2) What are a couple of good games for local simultaneous multiplayer? (2 player)

3) What are your 2 favorite apps that you use on it all the time?

Thanks so much - I'm a bit worried that this thing won't work well, since Android is pretty much set up to use touch feedback on a small screen.

The thing won't work well because there are only a handful of games designed for controller input on the set top box. The majority of people game on their phones and that's what most developers aim for. Be ready to spend ~$10 per game or be nickle and dimed to death just like the mobile apps.

An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

I guess when new games come out, I'll have to contact the publishers and let them know that I'd like to buy, but that they need controller support. I've noticed that quite a few of the Android games that I've bought in humble bundles have controller support these days.

Does anyone make a ~ 12' extension cable for an Xbox 360 controller? I already have a spare one of those, so if it would work well with an Android set top box, I could have it over there right next to the couch. Thanks!
