any way to disable this amazingly annoying feature?

pops up when you go to an individual deal, for example: http://slickdeals.net/f/8544633-1-00-4-pack-screen-protectors-s5-iphone-6-nexus-5x-and-more?src=pdw

I'm not sure exactly what you're describing. Maybe you can post a screenshot of what you're describing.

If it's that thing about rating slickdeals you can block that with an ad blocker if closing it bothers you too much. If you're talking about deal/reply alert bubbles, you can change those settings.

If it's something else, I don't think I've seen it.

Yes me too, also chrome doesn't give a pop-up either but I use U-Block Origin too. I do not use IE anymore.

It's not browser dependent, it's a site feature that's profile dependant. It's in there somewhere under notification settings, but a quick check and I don't see it. I disabled it a long time ago as well, and forget where I went to do it.

Somebody in the site issues forum would know for sure, but you might check if the "disable tutorial system" check box is marked.

afaik that should only come up if you're trying to reply to something/comment in a thread, not when you first go into it. moving your thread to SIS so one of the devs can take a look.

it would probably be helpful for you to indicate what browser(s) you're seeing this in, in case that's a factor.

That should only pop up if you're clicking on Add Comment. We don't have anything that would pop it up by default.

You're not along @andyz. I was having the same issue using Safari 9.1 on OS X Yosemite.

I had installed several Safari extensions recently and it seems that ReMap [sidetree.com] triggered the popup. Once I disabled ReMap the issue went away.
