Swapping Verizon contracts between two phones?

OK, I have an S4 that is month to month on a 1 GB\unlimited call and text plan with Verizon. I also have an old flip phone that is still under contract until the end of May that I am being charged $15 a month+taxes for and whose ETF is far more than just letting the plan expire at $15 a month until May. The contract nonsense with the flip phone is a long story that resulted from me having to use its upgrade to get the S4 when my former employer tried to screw us over when they outsourced all of us and tried to renege on their agreement to let us keep our company phones. I ended up keeping the phone in the end and ultimately reselling it but in the interim, while the dispute was going on, had to acquire another smart phone just in case.

Regardless, my question is is it possible with Verizon to swap the contracts on the phones and put the S4 on the contract through May and the flip phone on the month to month, which would allow me to just cancel the flip phone now?

your question does not make sense as it is worded, you have 2 contracts, you can change the phone for the contract. But the 15.00 a month plan does not have data?

verizon really does not care what phone you have on a plan, I have had a contract phone break and just activated a spare one until I could upgrade in a couple of months.

The $15 phone plan is a flip phone and does not have data...in fact it is not even used. As I noted, I had to use its upgrade to get a new phone a couple of years ago when my prior employer was trying to screw us on keeping the work phones we had that they said we could keep when the entire It dept got outsourced.

As such I had to use the upgrade on the out of contract flip phone I had as an emergency phone to get a subsidized (free) S4 at the time and add it to my account. So the upgrade was gone, the flip phone got a new 2 year contract added on and they ended up in the end transferring the contract from my company phone to my new S4 when the dispute finally got resolved in my favor.

As such, my S4 had a shorter contract than the crummy flip phone I was forced to keep. In the end I sold the old S4 company phone so it was more or less a wash with the added cost of keeping the flip phone, but I am wondering if there is a way to switch the contracts and save about $45 now that the S4 is out of contract.

Generally a contract will remain tied to a particular phone number. You can switch which phone has which phone number, but might have to call. To do the swap yourself (unless lte phones) you might need a third phone.

A swap wouldn't eliminate the contract so I don't understand what you think you'd accomplish.

If I can put the flip phone on the month to month\no contract my S4 is currently on and put my S4 on the flip phone contract that expires in May, then I can finally get rid of the flip phone and save $45+tax. The contract does not go away, it gets transferred to the S4 phone that has no current contract. If as you suggest the phone number goes with the contract though, then I am more or less out of luck since I would not want to change phone numbers as that would be a hassle and not worth the trouble for $45.

you can but the S4 would have the same plan as the flip phone no data.
