Suggestion: Persistent, product-specific (not deal-specific) wikis

SD deal threads aren't only resources for deal specifics, but are often loaded with product discussion.

Products will often appear in multiple threads as they're featured in new deals, but those past threads frequently have useful product-specific discussion.

A product-specific wiki that you could tag a thread with when it's for an item that has existing discussion would get all participants up to speed on what the community already knows.

Thanks Smilie We've been thinking about this too. Mostly involves logistics and execution:

First we have to make sure all threads are tagged with UPC or Make/Model, and then we can pump some data like specs etc automatically. The tricky part is figuring out which user comments should be in the global product wiki, versus just the thread. Will be people post it twice? do we have to give them an option to try and nominate a post for that area?

But certainly like the idea and you'll probably see us do more groundwork for structured data like that.
