Tricks to upgrade to 5.1.1:
Activate the AT&T sim that comes with the phone. You don't need to load any money in the card, you will have 30 days until they deactivate your card. Then just keep trying to hit the upgrade button (If it say no update available, just manually change the clock on the phone to the next day and hit the check for update button again). Does anyone know if this phone has the flashlight button? it is strange that I cant find the torch on the tool bar - gamfunny

Here is a link to the xda forum for this phone. link [xda-developers.com]
Here is a thread on how to get the 5.1.1 OTA update. link [xda-developers.com]
Get power toggles from the play store if you want the torch feature.

I also purchased this phone recently for use with T-Mobile.

The phone comes with an AT&T MicroSIM that can be activated on a $2/day gophone plan + $1 data (total expense is $10 because that's the minimum amount you can charge on gophone). I did it last night following the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/g...5-t3231115 and after 2 support calls had it upgraded to 5.1.1 (H95011x -> H95011z)

Then, Just pop in your other carrier's sim and enjoy. (some manual APN setup may be needed but it's very easy to do)

(Alternatively, you could flash the H950PR firmware to get 5.1.1 without AT&T and with $0 expense but you run the risk of bricking your brand new $200 phone...)

I haven't had the phone for a long time, but so far I am very pleased.

I got this on one of the previous deals (from dailysteals.com) and am extremely happy with the phone. All overheating or throttling issues are addressed after it upgrades to 5.1.1 (Only via AT&T ota upgrade). I don't think it will ever get marshmallow, but my fingers are crossed.

Too bad you must be on AT&T network to receive any upgrade. Plus it misses the 1700 AWS band for T-Mobile when LTE is not accessible.

I have it on AT&T with 5.1 and it is the best phone I have ever used. It has also become one of my main media consumption devices with the nice curved OLED screen and micro SD expansion.

I highly recommend it as you won't find a better, and well-rounded phone for the price.

Not sure why they aren't rolling these out with the 5.1 upgrade. Still rocking a Note 2 and need a new phone.

Also -- I haven't done so yet but it seems that if you root this phone it may be possible to enable band 12 support using this method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExtoWq_ir3w

Yep, Time to buy a back up to the one I've had when they went for $250 six months ago. $180 is an insane price for this phone.
