Replacement Dishwasher Racks...

YanksIn2009 3,107 773 March 8, 2016 at 02:52 PM
OK the racks in my GE dish washer are starting to rust. I went online to find replacements and found that each one new is over $100 no matter which retailer\reseller I go to...which is madness and obviously done so that you just throw the dishwasher away and buy a new one. Does anyone know of generic\OEM dish washer racks that can be purchased to replace the originals or a place that sells replacement parts on the cheap?

I cant say I have seen replacement racks available for cheap. I can't think there would be a big 3rd party market since they all would be different per models etc. I have seen repair kits http://www.amazon.com/Rerack-Dish...B00I9SK73K

For 6 bucks I think I will give that a try. Really ridiculous when you consider that if they made the racks out of stainless steel, this problem would not exist. Of course then they would have to build in the obsolescence into something else lol.

That stuff looks a LOT like spray on plastic like is used on tool handles or even cars/plastidip.

If I had a problem with this, I'd strip the rack down to the metal - you'd be best using an abrasive blaster (friend has one??) - then getting some spray plastic and giving it a good coat. An enamel would work OK too but might scratch glassware.

Tried that already. Maybe it is just my model, but the cheapest one new is around $100.
