The CPU alone is worth about $175 - $180.00

Countdown until someone comes up with the soooo original line of....

No HDMI kills the deal.

The case supports 4 HDDs but what about the mobo? I'm starting to tire of using my main PC as my "server" and everything else.

Fantastic deal if you don't need DRAC/iLO (out of band management).

What drives the video on this MB? I thought that XEON did not have any kind of integrated graphics support?

The graphics drivers that HP provides [hpe.com] for this machine are for a Matrox G200eH.

Note: VGA output only...a true server, meant to be run headless. VGA is there essentially to get you through setup, then collect dust for the next decade as your FreeNAS box is managed via web gui.

According to specs it has it, thought you do need to purchase an upgrade to get the enterprise version...

Will the chip do native Plex transcoding? I've Ben looking to upgrade my.old proliant server but have been leaning towards and full nas lately, but ones that do transcoding seem to be $400+

What is native plex transcoding.. I thought you just needed a powerful enough processor.. ie no atom chips.

if so this is plenty powerful.

How is this running as an ESXI server, with all the video/LAN drivers and what not? Does this have support for Intel's AMT?

Yes so a lot of the nas servers don't have enough power for hardware transcoding, normally needing an i5 or higher. I'm not as familiar with server Chios to know how powerful this is.

Here's the CPU benchmark for the the processor

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.p...40+3.10GHz

It's almost i7 territory. I have the E3 1225v3, and it does Plex just fine...
