Going 4K with Windows Media Center WMC

A little bit about my setup first.

AMD AM1 5350 cpu with MSI MB
4gb ram
120 SSD with 2tb HDD
EVGA GTX 950
LG 55UB8500 4K 3D TV
Onkyo TX-NR646 4K receiver

After uninstall old amd video software and drivers then installing the nvidia drivers, the computer let me set resolution to 3840x2160. Very nice desktop screen and kodi looks great. Problem start when i open up WMC and watch live tv. The tv would flicker constantly so had to turn offthe computer. After some research, it could've been the cheap hdmi cable causing the problem so i switch it out to the cable that came with the Xbox one. Watch live tv again and the channels i usually watch works great but other channels like HGTV would still flickers.

Is anyone having this issue? Since we had a power outage yesterday, i didn't get to mess with it much. I'm thinking that i probably need better hdmi or it could be that i have to rerun PlayReady again since i did add a new video card.

I don't quite see the point, pretty much all the content your recording or accessing through WMC is only 1080p. Just send 1080p to the tv and let it upscale it. Most streaming content that's 4k is very heavy on the drm and wouldn't work with wmc/kodi.

Well the video card upscale the signal now so now the signal goes from my htpc to the receiver then to the tv. TV is not upscaling anymore

It was the 29/59 bug easy fix with the settings in the nvidia settings. But what i gain was better blacks with DeepColor on my LG tv. I did notice less blur when i was watching the ncaa tournament. Video even cable TV is clearer. Amd my kids photo looks amazing on it. Maybe all this is just my psyche trying to justify what I'm doing. Who knows Smilie
