Fitbit HR bricked

komondor 5,874 2,392 March 13, 2016 at 11:48 AM
Just picked up a fitbit HR for my SO, charged it then did the update, during the update it stuck at 50%. Seems like it is bricked, fitbit has no real reset for a fitbit that is stuck. Lots of people online that have had the same issue and fitbit seems to have no real answer. Not even sure if letting the battery die will fix it. Fitbit says if they cannot get it figured out they will replace it under warranty, but to me why would I want something that can brick after 13 months no warranty and I wasted 150 bucks?

Anyone found a way to reset a fitbit that is hung, have tried plugging into PC adding dropping all the usual stuff.

Call fitbit. All these fitness trackers are pretty limited in what you can do. They are generally not serviceable. I know my Jawbone UP24 broke in the band where it charged. They replaced it with an UP2 and now the band is ripping. Thye are disposable things, If you get lucky the company stands behind it and will replace it. I feel like for a firmware issue this should be an easy win in your case.

Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .
Almost seems like a common problem - LINK []

Possible solution:

1. Turn off your bluetooth and unpair it from your phone.
2. I left it alone for about 10 mins and just picked it up and the progress bar was gone and I could cycle through the features.
3. Turned bluetooth back on and opened up the Fitbit app and it automatically paired back up with my phone after 30- 40 secs.
4. Tried to run the update again and it updated. The update only took about 2 mins.

Fitbit was great when my daughter needed hers to be replaced. She was over 1 year and they sent her new one, no further questions asked.
