this is a great deal. it comes with two batteries, and those alone on a good deal run at about this. I don't need these otehrwise i'd be buying them (3 years ago i got in on the 42 dollar trimmer blower sets with 2 batts.) been adding to the collection ever since

Is this unit pretty powerful compared to a gas one?

No it isn't. I bought this unit on a previous refurb/eBay deal and I am disappointed with it. I previously had a plug-in B&D model and it had far more power. I find myself having to go back and forth when edging my lawn with this unit. Even more disappointing though is the auto string feeder. it rarely works correctly, I am constantly having to stop what I am doing, pop the bottom off and unwind some string. Very frustrating.

I had a very different experience (as have many others). The string feeders on mine (two refurbished units) work extremely well and, while these trimmers aren't what I'd use to knock down knee-high grass on an acre-sized lot, they're great for normal trimming duties. I never use my gas-powered unit anymore.

I got this model or one very similar last year. I much prefer this over gas for my use. (quater of an acre yard).

Can anybody tell me how long the battery will run before putting in the second battery? Thanks.

I have .33acre corner lot and 2 batteries are not enough. 3-4 batteries should be OK for my lot size.

Love these deals. Keep one battery and flip trimmer+battery on Craigslist for $50. Free battery!

I have had this for 2 years, coming from a gas one. This one is much lighter though not nearly as powerful. It is still sufficient for my .5 acre lot with a few hundred feet of fencing. I can often manage to do it on one battery but sometimes use part of a second one. I too have had no trouble with the auto feed for the string. I would not hesitate to buy it again.
