If you want to discuss the pros/cons of shopping at Wal-Mart do that here.

Let's try to stay focused on any great deals to be had when you combine a coupon with a regular-priced item. YYMV on the actual prices at Wal-Mart but they should be fairly close. If your store has an item with a very different regular price, please put it in the Wiki so we can compare the price variations to see if this is even worth it. We may as well not even post clearanced items because that is definitley going to be widely different per store.

There is no weekly ad to work with so we're going to have to add things from what we see when we are there. So please keep an eye out when you're at Wal-Mart next for any hot deals.

Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):
* Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
* Free merchandise (or Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
* Store coupons
* Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
* Internet coupons
* Soft drink container caps

The following are guidelines and limits:
* Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
* Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.
* Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon." There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
* Only one coupon per item is permitted.
* Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

***YMMV on internet coupons. Some stores won't take them at all, some only take 1 per transaction and others take as many as you have. If you run into any trouble you can try showing them a copy of their coupon policy, but there is still no guarantee they will take internet coupons. Click on "Wal-Mart Coupon Policy" above to see it on the actual Wal-Mart website.

Guide to Wal-Mart
  • Use the SCO (Self-Checkout) to avoid coupon scrutiny
  • You cannot get an overage at the SCO's
  • Go to a regular cashier if you plan on having overage
  • Go to a regular cashier if you have a bottle cap
  • You can only use $20 worth of coupons at SCO
  • You can use up to $40 worth of coupons at a regular check out (Without Manager Approval) - (You can use as many as you want with approval)
  • If your coupon doesn't register as being inserted in the coupon slot at the SCO then blow in the slot
  • Some SCO's are coded to only accept 1 of each coupon and will need cashier approval.
  • Some SCo's are coded to need cashier approval for coupons with a $3 or higher value.
Wal-Mart Price Guarantee
If an item rings up for more than the price on the shelf WalMart policy is to give you $3.00 off the price the item scans for. If the item is less than $3.00 you get it for FREE. One item per $3.00 discount. YMMV as some stores will just give you the price difference instead of $3.00 off
NO MORE PRICE GUARANTEE AS OF JUNE 2008

Our Ad Match Guarantee

En Español [walmartstores.com]
We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register.

We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
  • Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
    • Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
  • Competitors' ads that feature a specific item for a specified price.
  • Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad.
  • For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
*The following are guidelines and limitations:
  • We will match any local competitor's advertised price.
  • We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor's ad.
  • Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)
We DO NOT match the price in the following types of competitor ads:
  • Items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price
    • example: "Buy [item A] to get [item B] for $C"
  • Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get free product
    • example: "Buy both [items A & B] to get [item C] for free"
  • Items that require a purchase to get a competitors' gift card
    • example: "Buy [item A] to get a $B gift card
  • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) ads with no actual price given
  • Going out of business or closeout prices
  • Percentage off
    • example: "All mascara, 40% off"
  • Competitors' private label price promotions
We do not honor:
  • Ads when the actual price for items cannot be determined.
  • Internet pricing
  • Misprinted ad prices of other retailers
  • "Going out of business" sales or "close out" prices

It has come to our attention that an original intent of a manufacturer's coupon(s) has been compromised and it is being discussed on the slickdeals.net forums. Discussions of how to profit from a coupon mistake should not be discussed here. if you wish to discuss the coupon(s) mistake, please use another forum. Slickdeals.net does not condone discussions of how to perform, elude capture or profit from unethical and perhaps illegal activities. Any users caught creating multiple account(s) will be banned immediately, no exceptions.
  • Please do not ask (even in a covert way) for any coupon that has been scanned or discuss any coupon that is not used for it's intended purpose. This goes for ALL scanned - this is what ALTERED means. NO POSTING about CWS, "37000" coupons, SPICY, or DECODING list of coupons.

  • Users who do ask or discuss any coupon that is not used for its intended purpose will be subject to warnings. This is because we do not want to punish those who do legit deals by being forced to close this thread down.
Moderator Reminders
  1. Do not directly post to Ebay Auctions.
  2. It's considered self promotion because we don't have a way to verify if you are the seller or not.
  3. Mod Alert any fighting! We'd rather catch it in the beginning, versus going back 5 pages to see what happened.
  4. Do not discuss or promote unethical and/or illegal activities with coupons or GCs (ie using expired coupons, using fake coupons, etc.).
  5. Click here for how expired coupons will be handled on here. (Credit goes to kel_be). In other words they will be handled the same way as they do for the Target Thread.
How do I let someone know they've posted a no-no?
  • If you feel it would be beneficial and helpful to the thread as a whole, go ahead and post an answer. But if you need to correct someone on an etiquette issue or on coupon use, try PM'ing them first. That avoids embarrassment and negative posts. The mod's are watching our thread closely--we want to keep things helpful and pleasant.

Common Abbreviations & Acronyms Throughout the thread, you may find some abbreviations and acronyms that are confusing, as some are very specific to Walmart. Here are some of the most common you'll see mentioned repeatedly.
  • AC = After Coupon(s) (as in, "I used 4 JJ MFQ's and 3 AF ETQ's, so my total AC was $1.23.")
  • BC = Before Coupon(s) (as in, "My total BC was $56.78.")
  • HTH = Hope That Helps
  • J&J = Johnson's & Johnson's or Juicy Juice
  • MQ = Manufacturer's Coupon
  • OOP = Out of Pocket
  • PA = Price Adjustment
  • PM (first meaning) = Private Message
  • PM (second meaning) = Price Match
  • PP = Polly Pocket
  • Q = Coupon
  • SWM = Super Walmart
  • WM = Walmart
  • YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary (as in, something may or may not work for you)

From the description, it sounds like you have a store credit, not a WM gift card. I have used store credit to add money to my gift cards in the past. I always have other items in my purchase. With the new register updates though, this may no longer be possible.
It's the card they give you from a no receipt return, so you may be right. I tried to just purchase a few gift cards with it, and was denied. Then I thought perhaps I can still do it if I have some groceries or other items with the gift cards. Next time I'm there, I'll try that and see what happens. No biggie if it doesn't work, it will get spent on stuff we need.

Speaking of the new software, I used coupons there for the first time since I read that they can't use the scan gun now. Well the cashier used the gun on mine after a quick try on the flatbed didn't do anything.

They do that at the Walmart I shop at too. They also said that they were told the only coupons they will reject are printables that wont scan. Any other (newspaper, peelies ect) are fine. I use a lot of printables and there have only been 3 that didnt work.

They have went back to the old software. (pre-update). Apparently the new updated software was a disaster so they have done away with it...for now! Back to same ole way it always has been. Wink

My SWM has had an empty spot for the Olay single bars in the trial/travel section. Yesterday, it was finally full!! No mention of trial or travel on the bars or the description, so I went ahead and got 8 (2 different sets of coupons, so could use 2 versions Smilie )
Im pretty sure this won't fly for most people. Just because it doesn't SAY trial travel on it, doesn't mean it should be used as these are in the trial/travel section...

Found a tearpad for $3/1 Kalkan dogfood sitting on the big bags at Walmart. It had no size restrictions and the 4 pound dog food is $4.38 and the q went through fine on the smaller bag.

Not wanting to get in an ethical debate about this..........my SWM stocks many things in the trial/travel section, that are not trial or travel size. These things include the 10ct Advil To-Go tubes, not trial or travel 4ct, full size ProGlide Razors, 20ct Ziploc quart bags, 4oz Colgate toothpaste, single Colgate toothbrushes........many of the .88 Equate brand items like NiteTime and DayTime Cold relief, laxative tablets, etc. None of them are trial or travel, just cheap things to grab. If it's not marked trial or travel here, then according to them--it isn't...................YMMV on what your area stores do..........Wink

The funny thing is--the 4ct Advil PM, single Kleenex or Puffs to-go and 2ct breathe rights aren't in the trial/travel section..........go figure..........

I was wondering WHY the Gillette Proglide $10/1 coupon was a hot seller on Ebay. My cousin who works at WM told me that a lady came in with this coupon and purchased10 Gillette Proglide gift sets and management allowed her to use the coupons. The gift set are $10 and she got them for FREE. In the words of management the coupon does NOT state that it could not be used on gift sets. LOL, and the gift set includes the razor and Cartridge whcihc meets teh coupon requirements. I'm saving my coupons for use after Christmas and make $5. LOL
