If you want to discuss the pros/cons of shopping at Wal-Mart do that here.

Let's try to stay focused on any great deals to be had when you combine a coupon with a regular-priced item. YYMV on the actual prices at Wal-Mart but they should be fairly close. If your store has an item with a very different regular price, please put it in the Wiki so we can compare the price variations to see if this is even worth it. We may as well not even post clearanced items because that is definitley going to be widely different per store.

There is no weekly ad to work with so we're going to have to add things from what we see when we are there. So please keep an eye out when you're at Wal-Mart next for any hot deals.

Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):
* Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
* Free merchandise (or Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
* Store coupons
* Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
* Internet coupons
* Soft drink container caps

The following are guidelines and limits:
* Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
* Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.
* Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon." There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
* Only one coupon per item is permitted.
* Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

***YMMV on internet coupons. Some stores won't take them at all, some only take 1 per transaction and others take as many as you have. If you run into any trouble you can try showing them a copy of their coupon policy, but there is still no guarantee they will take internet coupons. Click on "Wal-Mart Coupon Policy" above to see it on the actual Wal-Mart website.

Guide to Wal-Mart
  • Use the SCO (Self-Checkout) to avoid coupon scrutiny
  • You cannot get an overage at the SCO's
  • Go to a regular cashier if you plan on having overage
  • Go to a regular cashier if you have a bottle cap
  • You can only use $20 worth of coupons at SCO
  • You can use up to $40 worth of coupons at a regular check out (Without Manager Approval) - (You can use as many as you want with approval)
  • If your coupon doesn't register as being inserted in the coupon slot at the SCO then blow in the slot
  • Some SCO's are coded to only accept 1 of each coupon and will need cashier approval.
  • Some SCo's are coded to need cashier approval for coupons with a $3 or higher value.
Wal-Mart Price Guarantee
If an item rings up for more than the price on the shelf WalMart policy is to give you $3.00 off the price the item scans for. If the item is less than $3.00 you get it for FREE. One item per $3.00 discount. YMMV as some stores will just give you the price difference instead of $3.00 off
NO MORE PRICE GUARANTEE AS OF JUNE 2008

Our Ad Match Guarantee

En Espa?ol [walmartstores.com]
We're committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we'll match it. Right at the register.

We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
  • Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
    • Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
  • Competitors' ads that feature a specific item for a specified price.
  • Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad.
  • For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
*The following are guidelines and limitations:
  • We will match any local competitor's advertised price.
  • We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor's ad.
  • Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)
We DO NOT match the price in the following types of competitor ads:
  • Items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price
    • example: "Buy [item A] to get [item B] for $C"
  • Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get free product
    • example: "Buy both [items A & B] to get [item C] for free"
  • Items that require a purchase to get a competitors' gift card
    • example: "Buy [item A] to get a $B gift card
  • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) ads with no actual price given
  • Going out of business or closeout prices
  • Percentage off
    • example: "All mascara, 40% off"
  • Competitors' private label price promotions
We do not honor:
  • Ads when the actual price for items cannot be determined.
  • Internet pricing
  • Misprinted ad prices of other retailers
  • "Going out of business" sales or "close out" prices

It has come to our attention that an original intent of a manufacturer's coupon(s) has been compromised and it is being discussed on the slickdeals.net forums. Discussions of how to profit from a coupon mistake should not be discussed here. if you wish to discuss the coupon(s) mistake, please use another forum. Slickdeals.net does not condone discussions of how to perform, elude capture or profit from unethical and perhaps illegal activities. Any users caught creating multiple account(s) will be banned immediately, no exceptions.
  • Please do not ask (even in a covert way) for any coupon that has been scanned or discuss any coupon that is not used for it's intended purpose. This goes for ALL scanned - this is what ALTERED means. NO POSTING about CWS, "37000" coupons, SPICY, or DECODING list of coupons.

  • Users who do ask or discuss any coupon that is not used for its intended purpose will be subject to warnings. This is because we do not want to punish those who do legit deals by being forced to close this thread down.
Moderator Reminders
  1. Do not directly post to Ebay Auctions.
  2. It's considered self promotion because we don't have a way to verify if you are the seller or not.
  3. Mod Alert any fighting! We'd rather catch it in the beginning, versus going back 5 pages to see what happened.
  4. Do not discuss or promote unethical and/or illegal activities with coupons or GCs (ie using expired coupons, using fake coupons, etc.).
  5. Click here for how expired coupons will be handled on here. (Credit goes to kel_be). In other words they will be handled the same way as they do for the Target Thread.
How do I let someone know they've posted a no-no?
  • If you feel it would be beneficial and helpful to the thread as a whole, go ahead and post an answer. But if you need to correct someone on an etiquette issue or on coupon use, try PM'ing them first. That avoids embarrassment and negative posts. The mod's are watching our thread closely--we want to keep things helpful and pleasant.

I've spent alot of time going to a couple stores...found a ton of Dana @ 1.50 & 2.50...also found the Coty at 1.50. I had a ton of coupons that I've been holding just for now! ttl retail prior to discount is way over $700..ttl oop is just under $50 ttl which included money back twice..once was almost $24 and 2nd time was like $5! I used alot of my overage on food and stuff we needed. My hubby works at a local homeless shelter & I got the Dana/Coty as well as tons of decor for next Christmas..as well as razors, and other stuff too! Headed out in the am for 4 more stores! Hoping to find tons of deals!

Does the coty coupon scan differently at the reg. checkouts? I used the self checkout the other day and it told me that there were no matching items in my order when I scanned the coupon. I had bought the Hallie Berry perfume though. :/

it's similar to a "valid cpn amt?" prompt and they have to hit a key...i think someone mentioned before that it asks if it's food or not. Big Grin

Today, Dec. 31st, items are still ringing 50%.

I remember two years ago everything went 75% off on the 31st while last year was the 30th. Not much is left compared to previous years.

Since when can't you return a shirt to any W? My husband and I were out returning a truck we borrowed and I was dead sick. I wanted to return a sparkly shirt before New Years Eve because I was too sick to go to the party and I didn't want to return it after New Years because they would think I wore it and then was returning it. Husband nicely offered to take it in since the tags were on it and I had receipt. He came back out saying I had to return it to the store I bought it from.

I went in sick and threw a fit, which I never do because this is a small town W. She said it came up INF and I had to take it back to a store 45 miles away. I told her I knew darn well the store had them because I tried them on a week ago right there in the dressing room, but ended up buying it at another store. I said I did not care what the computer said and I wanted the manager. The manager came and very nicely and quickly returned it for me.

I told husband not to be a push-over and that W is famous for making up excuses. I have seen 2 other times people returned things that were INF in front of me at this very store.

I've had that happen a few times. I try not to buy anything that I *might* end up returning because of that. It's annoying.

I have a question - can you use a WM gc to buy a visa/mc/amex? DD got one for christmas from friends and she doesn't want anything from WM. Normally, I'd offer to buy it from her but I won't have cash to do so for a 2 more weeks and was wondering if she could just get a visa card or something and then use that wherever she wanted to shop.

We have one with the same issue. the clearence aisle has been the same for at least 3yrs...they don't mark stuff down..just add stuff! One mgr told me last summer they were getting a $8K grant from corp and were going to mark this stuff down the next day...I went twice a day for 6 days & nothing changed. She told me that the 'cost of these aisles' were worth more then the clearence...yet they didn't mark it down. My cousin however at a different WM..found the .25/.50/$1 aisle for over 2 weeks and she said the same...every day they added more...and at the end..it was GONE!
Also..I was talking to a guy remarking some toys.. I thought he was marking them down from $2... but NO..he was marking them back up to $4! When I questioned..he real innocently said 'that's an old sale price...see Oct 12..so it's time to mark it up'.. He was serious... I just laughed!

OK - I finally jumped on the cody bandwagon - altogether I had 7 and found a few things to use them for. My subtotal was -$.01 and my total (tax) was $2.61. I was happy with that since I got a new SD card for my phone which had broken!

Also I haven't seen it mentioned (although I'm not an avid reader of this thread usually) I saw V8 VFusion energy drinks in a can. They were on a display that said "new" and they are $.75 each, so free if you have the V8 fusion 16oz or less tearpads. I got 4 and my hubby will try them as they have green tea for the energy part.
