If you want to discuss the pros/cons of shopping at Wal-Mart do that here.

Let's try to stay focused on any great deals to be had when you combine a coupon with a regular-priced item. YYMV on the actual prices at Wal-Mart but they should be fairly close. If your store has an item with a very different regular price, please put it in the Wiki so we can compare the price variations to see if this is even worth it. We may as well not even post clearanced items because that is definitley going to be widely different per store.

There is no weekly ad to work with so we're going to have to add things from what we see when we are there. So please keep an eye out when you're at Wal-Mart next for any hot deals.

Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):
* Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
* Free merchandise (or Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
* Store coupons
* Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
* Internet coupons
* Soft drink container caps

The following are guidelines and limits:
* Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
* Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.
* Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon." There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
* Only one coupon per item is permitted.
* Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

***YMMV on internet coupons. Some stores won't take them at all, some only take 1 per transaction and others take as many as you have. If you run into any trouble you can try showing them a copy of their coupon policy, but there is still no guarantee they will take internet coupons. Click on "Wal-Mart Coupon Policy" above to see it on the actual Wal-Mart website.

Guide to Wal-Mart
  • Use the SCO (Self-Checkout) to avoid coupon scrutiny
  • You cannot get an overage at the SCO's
  • Go to a regular cashier if you plan on having overage
  • Go to a regular cashier if you have a bottle cap
  • You can only use $20 worth of coupons at SCO
  • You can use up to $40 worth of coupons at a regular check out (Without Manager Approval) - (You can use as many as you want with approval)
  • If your coupon doesn't register as being inserted in the coupon slot at the SCO then blow in the slot
  • Some SCO's are coded to only accept 1 of each coupon and will need cashier approval.
  • Some SCo's are coded to need cashier approval for coupons with a $3 or higher value.
Wal-Mart Price Guarantee
If an item rings up for more than the price on the shelf WalMart policy is to give you $3.00 off the price the item scans for. If the item is less than $3.00 you get it for FREE. One item per $3.00 discount. YMMV as some stores will just give you the price difference instead of $3.00 off
NO MORE PRICE GUARANTEE AS OF JUNE 2008

Our Ad Match Guarantee

En Español [walmartstores.com]
We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register.

We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
  • Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
    • Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
  • Competitors' ads that feature a specific item for a specified price.
  • Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad.
  • For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
*The following are guidelines and limitations:
  • We will match any local competitor's advertised price.
  • We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor's ad.
  • Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)
We DO NOT match the price in the following types of competitor ads:
  • Items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price
    • example: "Buy [item A] to get [item B] for $C"
  • Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get free product
    • example: "Buy both [items A & B] to get [item C] for free"
  • Items that require a purchase to get a competitors' gift card
    • example: "Buy [item A] to get a $B gift card
  • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) ads with no actual price given
  • Going out of business or closeout prices
  • Percentage off
    • example: "All mascara, 40% off"
  • Competitors' private label price promotions
We do not honor:
  • Ads when the actual price for items cannot be determined.
  • Internet pricing
  • Misprinted ad prices of other retailers
  • "Going out of business" sales or "close out" prices

(Note: A lot of the information below is based from the Target Wiki -- Credit goes to whoever wrote the Target Wiki)

It has come to our attention that an original intent of a manufacturer's coupon(s) has been compromised and it is being discussed on the slickdeals.net forums. Discussions of how to profit from a coupon mistake should not be discussed here. if you wish to discuss the coupon(s) mistake, please use another forum. Slickdeals.net does not condone discussions of how to perform, elude capture or profit from unethical and perhaps illegal activities. Any users caught creating multiple account(s) will be banned immediately, no exceptions.
  • Please do not ask (even in a covert way) for any coupon that has been scanned or discuss any coupon that is not used for it's intended purpose. This goes for ALL scanned - this is what ALTERED means. NO POSTING about CWS, "37000" coupons, SPICY, or DECODING list of coupons.

  • Users who do ask or discuss any coupon that is not used for its intended purpose will be subject to warnings. This is because we do not want to punish those who do legit deals by being forced to close this thread down.
Moderator Reminders
  1. Do not directly post to Ebay Auctions.
  2. It's considered self promotion because we don't have a way to verify if you are the seller or not.
  3. Mod Alert any fighting! We'd rather catch it in the beginning, versus going back 5 pages to see what happened.
  4. Do not discuss or promote unethical and/or illegal activities with coupons or GCs (ie using expired coupons, using fake coupons, etc.).
  5. Click here for how expired coupons will be handled on here. (Credit goes to kel_be). In other words they will be handled the same way as they do for the Target Thread.
How do I let someone know they've posted a no-no?
  • If you feel it would be beneficial and helpful to the thread as a whole, go ahead and post an answer. But if you need to correct someone on an etiquette issue or on coupon use, try PM'ing them first. That avoids embarrassment and negative posts. The mod's are watching our thread closely--we want to keep things helpful and pleasant.
  • Please do not ask (even in a covert way) for any coupon that has been scanned in or is not used for it's intented purpose. This goes for ALL scanned (from a scanner) manufacturer coupons. This is what ALTERED means. NO POSTING about "37000 coupons", SPICY, or DECODING list of coupons.

Common Abbreviations & Acronyms Throughout the thread, you may find some abbreviations and acronyms that are confusing, as some are very specific to Walmart. Here are some of the most common you'll see mentioned repeatedly.
  • AC = After Coupon(s) (as in, "I used 4 JJ MFQ's and 3 AF ETQ's, so my total AC was $1.23.")
  • BC = Before Coupon(s) (as in, "My total BC was $56.78.")
  • HTH = Hope That Helps
  • J&J = Johnson's & Johnson's or Juicy Juice
  • MQ = Manufacturer's Coupon
  • OOP = Out of Pocket
  • PA = Price Adjustment
  • PM (first meaning) = Private Message
  • PM (second meaning) = Price Match
  • PP = Polly Pocket
  • Q = Coupon
  • SWM = Super Walmart
  • WM = Walmart
  • YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary (as in, something may or may not work for you)

that happened to me. she cut the ad out of the flier and said that was a coupon. then preceded to pull out the policy and say that they don't double coupons EEK! i must have looked at her like she had two heads. cause i sure felt like i was on another planet.

i called corp and they honored the pm after the sale was over (cause it took them that long to call me). but it should be noted, that when i called corp, the rep said the store was correct, i couldn't do that. i said i would hold while they got a supervisor on the phone to verify. lo and behold, i was correct.

the support supervisor that said that gives me dirty looks now every time she sees me.

from now on, i only go to customer service desk to do any pm.
Oh, no my dear............you have educated a manager, make sure that you continue to PM at the registers so that all cashiers, CSMs, etc are going to follow the rules. It's a shame for you to have educated and not let others get some benefit out of it.........
I had a CSM hand back a stack of qs last week........."these are duplicates, you can't use them, they all have the same numbers........" and he pointed to the bar codes (MQs from the inserts.........)Confused

They'd had a coupon training class and were told that if the bar codes on the qs were the same, they were copies. So, I educated him right then and there. I explained the manufacturer coding, the coupon price coding and then showed him several IPs with the dotscan bar codes and their individual numbers and the bulb went on for him..........Who ever taught their coupon class didn't know their @ss from a hole in the ground. He thanked me over and over again and was very excited to share this new info with his peers..........Wink Needless to say, all trips since then have been flawless.

The way I see it
every life is a pile of good things and bad things.
The good things don’t always soften the bad things
but vice versa
the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things
and make them unimportant

Does anyone know if wm carries j.r.watkins? Rite aid has them on sale for 2/$3, reg retail $2.99-$13.99, but it's not very specific, so might be ymmv to pricematch anyway.

The new baskets have all the information in them this year, I believe. I think I read that there wasn't online info like last year. I haven't purchased mine yet, but no rush it's good until next weekend. Smilie

That's the problem - the 2 bonus razors are the Slim Twin not the whole pack. Gilette razors screw me up all the time like that when they put the name of the bonus razors on the front of the pack and I'm not paying attention.

The form is in the basket in the store, same as last year. Smilie

Last year, I believe we were able to print the form out online and that doesn't appear to be an option this year. If anyone has any further information, please jump in. nod I have not purchased one yet.

If you hadn't pointed that out, I never would have noticed. I had a cashier today that tried and tried to find a way to deny a peelie I had for the Slim Twin- neither of us noticed that! They certainly don't make it easy to see that the Slim Twin only applies to the bonus razors!

During the Walgreens $30 P&G someone accused Ms.Gal I believe of misusing a coupon for the Gillette razors and when I finally found the bonus packs like she had purchased - the bonus razors were the coupon razors. It's all very misleading (probably intentionally misleading so the consumer will buy it thinking the whole pack is Slim Twin) and I for one am usually so excited to find a good deal it clouds my attention to detail which brings me to...

I think the csw debate was because people were using a coupon for the cws when they were advertised free with the purchase of a toothbrush? Others argued the barcode was on the cws, but I didn't find any, so I haven't a clue, but there's a huge difference between abuse of a coupon *snip*
Ambiguous product packaging and wording on coupons that are more vague than my union contract. If two Fortune 500 companies (P&G and Walmart) can't find a way to comunicate effectively then I am not going to waste my time trying to figure it out. They leave all these loopholes to screw each other IMO.

I'm not going to waste my time trying to figure it out either, just typing my perception of the coupon. Smilie Yep, I believe the same about the loopholes, they are intentional. For those that have access to the Target coupon policy in the red book at customer service, it has wide gaps for perception differences. All intentional, I believe, so a SM or LOD can spin it whatever way they feel at the time.
