Looking for a powerful portable speaker

ACAx1985 787 214 March 23, 2016 at 08:54 AM More Amazon Deals
I'm looking for a powerful, rechargable portable speaker with 3.5 line-in.

I found this, and it looks to be half-off:

Anyone have any experience with the product or recommend something even better?

Define powerful. Thats a 10W speaker which isn't a lot but will be better than most of the little bluetooth speakers.

Looks like 2x10W. Have you seen anything more powerful around?

There are so many on the market I would expect to see more than that but who knows. I know there are more powerful plug in ones.

What are you trying to do?

All comes down to how much you want to spend and how crazy you want to get.

The creative iroar seems to be the latest rave on the higher end, but it is not weather proof or rugged from the reviews, so if outside use is important, it should be avoided imo.

Thanks for all the responses! I will check them out.

I'm basically looking for something I can bring to a hotel, carry on hikes, play at the pool, play at the beach, etc. I don't plan on getting it wet.. I've had a number of $30-50 great sounding portable speakers like that and even when they get sand/splashed, they've been fine.

Sound quality is to a degree in the ears of the beholder imo. I have heard some of the portable speakers that sound OK. They obviously are not coming anywhere near a good home system though. Personally, I have found the cheap under $100 portables usually have awful sound quality but I am something of an audiophile. The better ones are made to be portable but water and sand are not their friends. If you plan on lugging it to the beach, you probably are better off getting a cheaper unit imo.

JBL Charge 2 [amazon.com] - contains a powerful 6000mAh battery that can also charge other devices. Great sound, great bass response. About $100, give or take a few bucks, and can be had in many different colors. Love mine.

Can't beat the Bose Soundlink Mini - still one of the best bluetooth speakers out there. I love mine!
