How do I disable the new front page alerts that a new deal is posted?

outermind 6 10 March 25, 2016 at 07:36 AM
I find them to be very distracting, always flashing that tab on Chrome. I looked around and can't figure out how to disable it. I don't need to know every time someone posts a new deal on the frontpage.

Thanks in advance.

There is no way to disable them currently. We are running a test of these notices for some users and we definitely appreciate the feedback as we decide if and how to roll them out further.

Thank you for the response Odds. I am a casual user so to me it is more of an annoyance but to some other people maybe it might be useful. For me a way to turn it off is all that is needed.

I also find them to be annoying. Maybe if they displayed more info, but right now they just spam that there is a deal on the front page.

I also really dislike them and the little (1) notification on the tab. Please give me an option to turn it off.

I dislike it as well. I had SD open in a browser and it loaded 7 of those messages and made it so I couldn't click on anything until I closed the notices. Very annoying.

Thanks for your input. During this test there's no way to disable the notifications but they are reading the input to see how well received this feature is.

Because testing prematurely and annoying users with a function which it is obvious not all users will appreciate makes good business sense, right? Why is this "test" happening before all of the functionality is put into place? What are the devs going to discover by rolling out an incomplete product?

Adding my vote to the "let me turn this crap off" function. I've searched settings high and low before coming the to the conclusion that I should check the forums.

I'm not a fan of the new notification system either. I like to have slickdeals open to check every now and then but having the ticker update in the title bar is just a small annoyance.

Please turn this OFF ASAP! The is the most annoying feature ever. My chrome tab keeps flashing every freakin' minute when some random frontpage deal is posted.

I also find them annoying and not useful. They do not even provide information on what the new posted deal is. Even if they did, they would still be annoying.

Annoying as well. Would be nice if it contained more details.

Just discovered that switching to classic view disables this "feature". I liked the old look better, anyhow...
