Not a deal but I figured there is enough of us with this card that an FYI was indicated.

You still get the free 100 monthly points as well as APR reduction.
The old points expire in 5 years, new points don't expire.

All the same, I'm going to try to switch mine to a second Double Cash card. ***CSRs are reporting it cannot be converted****

Possible Alternatives:
Citi Double Cash: 2% cash back without categories https://www.citi.com/credit-cards...DoubleCash
Amazon Card: 5% back for Amazon.com purchases (with prime membership): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008A0GNA8
Citi Costco Visa: 3% back at restaurants, 4% at Costco gas, 2% at Costco (rewards come as a coupon for Costco): https://www.citi.com/credit-cards...conversion

Got this notice in the mail today as well. Will try to convert mines to double cash once it switches.

I have been unable to convert this to any other cards offered by Citi. Has anyone been able to successfully convert this to another card?

RIP...my favorite credit card of all time.

Have had this card for over 10 years now (started back when it was MTVu).

No reason not to convert to Double Cash. Hopefully they will let us convert this card.

Can they do this? Didn't we enter into a contract with them when we applied for the card? What if we only decided to pay 40% of our bill...

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,.... Good one.

Yes, they can do it. I haven't gotten my notice yet, but it doesn't surprise me. This card has been grandfathered for months now, so I'd been expecting it. I'll just close my account or sock drawer it.

Is there any other card with 5 points or 5% back on restaurants?

I got my notification today too.

What would happen to your existing points if you convert to double cash (master card)? These thank you points are good for 20% discount on flights.

Not that I know of. Citibank Costco Visa would give you 3% back though.

Chase Freedom and Discover are 5% on rotating categories
Chase currently has a 50,000 point sign up promo on its Sapphire Preferred which I believe can be converted to the no annual fee Freedom once you get the points (has a $4,000 spend for the points though).
Freedom has a $150 bonus after you spend $500, so that may be the better option for you if you don't spend ~$1,200/month on your cards.

5% was nice. I think the 2% is still higher or same as my other cards, so I'll probably keep using it.

Interesting because my Amazon purchases have plunged recently, so I guess I can be thankful to have milked it while it was good. Now it is time to load up on some new bonus cards.
