These feature wood construction covered with carpet or a similar fabric that encourages and allows a cat to scratch. -Corwin

These towers aren't very good. The fabric on it is not carpet but is more like fleece. So it's soft but there isn't a lot of substance for a cat's claws to grip, plus the fabric is fairly easy to tear. I wouldn't let my cats use this because I don't think it's safe for them - too easy for one to fall an unsafe distance for the above reasons.
They just look really cheap. The ones I got from Amazon, I think the brand Armarkat is really good quality. I have 3 of them in our house and the cats love them.
You're a liar if you say you wouldn't love a human sized one of these.

This is great to keep cats off furniture. I put a cat tree up and since then both my cats haven't scratched the furniture.

I can see why you feel that way, seriously cat love boxes, but they also like to climb up to high ground too, so this kind of cat house has its own appeal to them. whether you feel they are worth that kind of money is another issue.

I got this for an ex years ago. She still has it and it is in excellent shape even with two cats using it daily.
