The Extended Range $40 model is a rebadged Maverick ET-733. Great price!

The $35 model is a rebadged Maverick ET-732. Also a good price, but might as well spend $5 for the other model.

I use something like this for larger pieces of meat like pork butts, beef roasts and whole poultry. I don't think you'll get reliable readings from smaller pieces like the ones you listed.

unless you just use it to monitor the internal temperature of the BBQ pit instead of the meat itself. I don't really care what the meat temp is until hours down the road when smoking meats...and if you're cooking something like a steak you pretty much need to just stand there since it will only be a few minutes on each side to get to rare plus or medium rare.

I have one of these and I absolutely love it. The UI is kind of dumb and not user friendly, but the convenience after it is set up is great. You can use one probe to monitor the temperature of the grill or smoker and the other for the meat. You can also monitor two different cuts at the same time. It is great for cooking chicken breasts to the exact desired temperature. I also use it for pork loin and tri tip. I have never cooked meat incorrectly when using this gadget. It hasn't let me down.
