bill1965 61 10 March 30, 2016 at 12:20 PM
I purchased 3 reams of office depot paper from office depot store. rebate offer is OD0502342, Today I check the rebate status at www.web-rebates.com, the rebate has an error with "The receipt submitted was either damaged or unreadable or missing critical information and we could not validate your rebate"

How to fix it? thanks

can you get a duplicate receipt by chance or can you call the rebate#?

I got the exact same issue with OD0502340 (2 reams of paper). I called and was told it was either "I returned the paper" (I did not) or they were still "verifying" it. Told to call back later.
He never mentioned there was a problem with the receipt itself, make me wonder if they are doing this hoping people would just give up.
You can call 8665410284 and inquire

Office Depot rebates normally require original receipt or a copy of the receipt. Re-submit with a copy of your file copy of the original rebate submission.

Have you solved the "The receipt submitted was either damaged or unreadable or missing critical information and we could not validate your rebate" issue?

My rebate status still is in "Validation Period" with above error.

Yes it is valid now after i called again. Even though it is valid, the reason is "customer satisfaction". I am not happy but can not really do anything.

I had this problem sometime last year (different rebate number). I called and the lady said that she couldn't read the store number on the receipt. I opened up my copy of the rebate materials and the store number was clearly visible on my end. I provided her with the store number and I was put on hold for a few minutes. She came back saying my rebate was approved. I did have to wait another 2 or 3 months to get the rebate though..

I think most of these denials are not from unreadable receipts, but lack of reading comprehension by the person evaluating the rebate..
