HP asks "Use the software in Windows 7 to fax and scan"

HP gave the printer driver - what about the driver for the scanner?

I have used this printer on Win XP - installed the sw from the CD. Used PDF X-change viewer to scan - but on Win 7, PDF X-change viewer does not see the scanner from hp laserjet 3330 - what is the fix?

Laserjet is connected to an HP jet that converts the USB to Cat5. I tried by passing it by connecting the USB to my Router's USB (Belkin 300 N+) - no luck. Seems the driver is missing.

Your link also states install scanner - that is where the problem with the driver.

you can share the printer from the pc, there is no driver it comes with windows which has a built in scanner driver but it will only work on a scanner attached to your pc directly. If you use picassa or another photo app they usually have a scanning feature that should work.

Just forget about scanning across the network with that printer.
