How to get the most cash out of 2000 dollars in EBAY gift cards

Not sure if this is the right area to ask this question. Long story short, from many many years ago when I did live in the US, I bought several EBAY gift cards totaling up to 2000 dollars US. I live in Toronto currently and I am wondering what the best strategy is to turn this into cash?

My initial idea is to buy 2000 dollars in Target gift cards, and then buy prepaid visa cards with them at target, provided that is allowed. That would mean I pay an extra 7 dollars for every 200 dollars, meaning I would only lose 70 dollars on the 2000 and have it in prepaid visa cards, which is a lot easier to flip. I would have to wait till im in the US to go to target and purchase these gift cards of course.

I looked on just buying 2 dollar bills on ebay, but that way will lead you to lose 40 dollars for every 200.

Maybe there is a big ticket item like an apple item (ipad) that is easy to flip for close to face value, or even I can get an item like that on sale on ebay and then sell it for what I paid through craigslist, which once again I will have to wait till I live there again.

Any opinions?

Buying visa cards with Target GCs is YMMV. I have been rejected couple of times at different Target stores so I don't think they'll let you buy them.

Hmm good to know. Thank you for the clarification. So then I am curious as to what my best course of action would be for converting these ebay gift cards into the most cash possible.

Do you need the money now? What about gold coins? Buy gold when it's low?

I don't need the money right now. In fact I am willing to wait up until a full year. I've had it for several years already. I plan to move back to the states next year and would like to have it by then. I just don't want to invest it. Im wondering if there is something I'm missing or some loophole that will get be almost as much cash as the value of the gift cards
