I don't think you need to oil it but once in a blue moon. Just don't clean with soap. Source: grandpa
Right from the Lodge website:

To Soap or not to Soap...
If no soap is too scary, wash with mild soapy water and dry and oil immediately. However, consider that cookware is 400ºF in 4 minutes on medium heat and is sterile at 212º F, so soap isn’t always necessary.
Dishwashers, strong detergents and metal scouring pads are not recommended, as they remove seasoning.
You know what else kills bacteria? Hot water and scrubbing. And if that doesn't do it, next time it's on the burner, that sure will. People are obsessed with everything being completely sterile. You're going to put this on a burner....

Probably rusty from leaving it with water spots on it.

The price on Amazon goes up and down, price matching whoever has it available (in stock for order) for lowest price. When it changes, or if competitor goes OOS, Amazon's price goes up.

The 8" $9.53 is a "sale" price match to Target.
The 10" $14.97 is a price match to WalMart.
Amazon also price matching WalMart on the other 10" Lodge skillet (10.25" L8SK3) for $15.92.

Lodge L8SK3 Pre-Seasoned Cast-Iron Skillet, 10.25-inch [amazon.com]

Those are regular prices for those 10"-10.25" skillets, but for some reason they get posted on SD as Hot Deals.

Also a bit CHEAPER than last few months...for consideration (Better value IMHO since the dutch oven is a "deep skillet" and the 10.25" skillet doubles as a lid too.)

Edited: No longer available at Amazon - see below**
Lodge LCC3 Pre-Seasoned Cast-Iron Combo Cooker, 3.2-Quart [amazon.com] $28.72

**Amazon was price matching Walmart on the above Combo Cooker
Still available at WalMart for $28.72, Free pickup in Store.
Lodge Logic 3 Quart Combo Cooker [walmart.com]

The Lodge skillet that is actually cheaper than it has been in a while is the 12", available at Walmart and Target for $17.99 (reg. $19.97-$19.99).

I don't like it. It's heavy and you need to put oil on it after cleaning each time.

I think the European brand such as Swiss diamond and Scanpan is much better than Lodge.

My last 10" iron skillet I bought at the salvation army. 10 dollars

What I do, Heat slowly with small amount of oil. Add raw hamburger etc. Cook till done. Clean out pan of cooked hamburger. Repeat adding small amount of water in the empty pan, to "sear" clean the bottom. Scrape bottom with water mixture.. Oil and water mixture does not go down the drain.
Wipe clean with OLD newspapers several times. And wipe clean and store.

So no soap whatsoever? i thought you could use soap as long as you reseason every once in a while and made sure to towel-dry immediately?
