Kitchen music streaming solution?

IvoryCadenza 388 129 April 9, 2016 at 07:40 AM More Amazon Deals
I would like to stream music from my phone to a wireless speaker. Most of the wireless bluetooth speakers are really small and they're hard to get a full sound out of. I have a good amount of space in my kitchen, so I could buy some more powerful bookshelf speakers, but I don't have a receiver. Is there such a thing as a pair of speakers that have a built in receiver and can also have volume adjusted via remote?

For example right now I have a really cheap Vizio soundbar connected to a bluetooth stereo adapter, which connects to my phone. This setup is fine but I damaged the soundbar and have problems with the quality of its output.

I could possibly try getting another sound bar, or maybe try buying an all-in-one solution like this? http://www.amazon.com/Jensen-Cabi...chen+radio

My wife is a member of an orchestra, getting everyone together for rehearsals can sometimes be difficult. She decided to get an iLive Boombox [amazon.com] with it she can practice by herself, this model does not have a remote control. but it does have a great Bluetooth radio & it sounds great too.

I would say that the iLive would be a portable alternative to the Jensen you are looking at.

I would avoid the under cabinet sets - they're usually ugly and have neutral to poor sound quality.

What are you looking to spend?
How much space do you have?

Have you checked The Wirecutter's reviews?

I would also check WiFi systems (not bluetooth)
Sonos - http://www.sonos.com/products/wireless-speakers
(nice because you can expand over time)

or the upcoming Vizio sets - http://www.vizio.com/smartcast-home-audio

After ordering a deal immediately delete your deal alert. You got your item; you don't want it shipped with a side of remorse.

Without a receiver, you are basically left with some sort of bluetooth speaker. Those can vary in quality, but some can be pretty decent for what they offer. If you are looking for audiophile sound though, you need to get a real set of speakers and a receiver imo. The Sony's below are rated pretty well:

I'd consider the UE Boom 2 line..
http://www.amazon.com/UE-BOOM-Wir...014M8ZO8S/

Very well rated and does have some waterproofing which is always a good thing in a kitchen. If you want true stereo sound you can get 2 and pair them together.

You could always get something like this: http://www.monoprice.com/product?...1&format=2
but it might be simpler to just buy a sonos
