Hello fellow SD'ers,
I found a great deal that I wanted to share; I hope this helps someone looking for a great price on a reliable dual-band AC gigabit router!

Amazon [amazon.com] currently has the Archer C9 router (TP-LINK AC1900 Dual Band Wireless AC Gigabit Router) for just $109.95.

This is Amazon's absolute lowest price it's been all year, and their second-lowest price all-time (and that was one very quick moment in December of last year; price history pic attached). It's been hovering around the $125-$139 mark lately, so this drop is particularly significant.

Free Prime shipping for members, and free shipping for all others too. I have this router (two actually, in two separate residences), and it is incredibly powerful with excellent range Smilie

Alternatively,

B&H Photo Video [bhphotovideo.com] also has the Archer C9 router TP-LINK AC1900 Dual Band Wireless AC Gigabit Router for $109.95

I was looking at this model and comparing it to the C7 just last night. I couldn't bring myself to buy this at $129.99 so I set a Camel alert and figured I'd wait. this morning the first email on my phone was the price drop alert and I bought it right away. This is the best price it's been in a while so if you're looking for a good router this is it.

I have this router and I think it's "meh". I had to update the firmware right away when i got it since it couldn't hold a wifi connection worth a darn.

It works well if you are on the same floor as the router, but my bedroom which is just above the router and about 20 feet down doesn't get a great signal at all. i can't stream 720p videos from plex using wifi when im that far.

from what i researched there is no way to update the firmware to openwrt/tomato/dd-wrt so you are stuck with the default firmware. most likely thats the issue.

You must just have a bad one or something wrong.

I have one of these connected to 30 full time streaming devices and I've never had to restart it.

I upgraded firmware right when I got it (which you should do anyway).

I have another one and get signal down the block. Best router for your money. Next closest is the c7-8 or the r6400

I've had this for 6 months now and it has worked flawlessly. I've never once been disconnected and I get about 20mbps faster than my archer c7 I had previously. super good router would highly recommend for this price.

I must have a bad one too because the signal drops at least three times a week and the range isn't too hot. I'll see if my firmware needs an update

Seems like you probably somehow got a bad one. I've had this router for a while now and my experience is completely different. I easily have 15+ devices connected wirelessly to this and they all run without a hitch, including on different floors of the house separated by many walls, and can get a strong signal even in my back and front yards. We have two Xbox Ones, an Apple TV, two Roku players, 4 AC smartphones (combo of iPhones and Android), 3 iPads, 3 laptop PC's, a smart TV, a Nexus player, and wireless printer among other things that are all connected to this. We do lots of 1080p Netflix streaming as well as live-video streams in crystal clear quality and have not had any loss of signal nor any need to restart the router. I also upgraded the firmware as soon as I set it up.

Pretty beastly router, and quite a steal especially for this price.

i had so much trouble with the 5ghz band i simply gave up. bought an ubiquiti ac lr and turned off the wireless on this router. The ubiquiti has given the most stable connection ive ever seen.

I have the router in the basement and I still have great signal on the second floor or even at the neighbors!! We never drop connections and streaming seems to work great. The only thing I noticed is that signal doesn't seem to go through the fridge or stove too well (who would have thought). Other than that, its great. I got mine from jet for $80. Never had to update firmware either.

Depends on your needs. It being 2016, I would say yes.
