Thread Details

I'm in need of a new rig and it's been a long time coming. I play *some* games like Dota 2, but nothing crazy. I'm having issues with videos, like when I load my GoPro 1080p videos, it's choppy and when too many applications are running, my machine gets HELLA slow.

And I run multiple businesses through Internet-means so it would make sense to be optimized there. Screenshot shows my current set up. You need more info? Just ask

Should be easy for those of you well versed in this area. I can piece together all parts of a computer, I just don't know what's optimal together (anymore). I built this one like 3 years ago for a little less than $500.

Please do your research and find the BEST price possible! I'll do the same when the specs are in.

Thanks guys!

Sidenote- I do like to make music from time to time and the current audio controller on my motherboard doesn't allow for me to use mixer and hear on both headphone and speakers, so that would be a huge + to have.

Not sure any motherboard does this, you'll have to get some external sound card I think?
Anyway I found a program called Virtual Audio Cable that let me do exactly what you want. It's amazing, you can output to several devices at the same time. I think it costs around $30. I've gotten my money out of it over the years. They have a free trial that says "trial" every 30 seconds. http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm

I'm not sure you need to build a new PC. You can upgrade your graphics card and work on better cooling in your case and you should be good to go. (CPU temps are a little high)

Video editing requires a lot of processing power so it's going to use most of your resources regardless

Your graphics card is pretty decent for gaming, you could wait until later this year when Nvidia releases the Pascal cards and grab one of those.

Thanks for the feedback.

The biggest problem I'm facing might be when I have like 25 tabs open and 4 different programs open, the computer slows down quite a bit.

Is that something a memory upgrade would fix? Any way to verify if my motherboard can handle 2x 16gb cards?

I'll definitely DL the program you referred me to. Kinda excited about that one.

Better cooling, how would one go about doing that? I did explore a CPU fan some time ago, but it look like it got in the way of my video card and wasn't the right fit for my current CPU.

I already have the left side panel open indefinitely lol.

Again appreciate it.

btw how do you give reps now? Is it just the helpful comment thumb?

I don't see a helpful comment thumb. I think gamer's lounge you can't leave rep. You'll have to find that user in a different subforum and rep them there.

Just ordered a new fan for the CPU. Are there any other fan options other than a)Video Card b)CPU c) case fan? I would add air conditioning into the tower if that would help lol

For the $700, do you need a copy of the Operating System (e.g., Windows 10) or any other software, peripherals or devices in that price?

Since your CPU/MOBO temps are both on the warm side it indicates to me that there is room for improvement with your air flow

Check out this article below on how to optimize air flow (more fans are not always better, just make sure they are setup right).

If your CPU is getting hot while processing it will cause slowdown.

It sounds to me like the bottleneck in your multi-tasking is your 4 cores. This kind of processing power is getting into multi-core or supercomputer territory.

You will want to build out a multicore supercomputer or a second PC if you need to run all these applications at the same time.

Hmm, please elaborate? I do believe this is a quad core AMD? How would you accomplish building a machine for that cause?

Hard to say what you need without actually knowing what software and what kind of tabs you're running, but that older CPU running warm definitely isn't helping.I imagine stepping up to a properly cooled i7, or the like, would help immensely, but again this is somewhat of a guess without knowing how heavy your actual CPU load is.

...And did you imply you didn't have a fan on your CPU at all? I'd be amazed you didn't burn the CPU out already. A good after-market heatsink can help the situation if you've decided to maintain your current setup.

Edit: In regards to the music output, I realize this is suboptimal, but I'd probably use a simple splitter as a bandaid solution, lol.

Yes you have a quad core CPU but you're overloading it. So more CPU's = more cores. You would need to build a multi cpu pc, supercomputer, or server to handle the load.

I don't have any experience buying or building those tho
