so everything out the door for $649? I literally pay that and as long as I show up at LAX on flight day I don't have to worry about anything until I get back 8 days later?

They make additional money from the kickbacks from vendors/hotels/restaurants while you are there. So worry about what extra money is made off you while there.

Find a travel agent in the LA area that is Chinese, you can get this deal for $299. There will be kick backs when they take you on "shopping trips", but food, hotel and transportation is included. I went on this a few years back, they also get kick backs from the Chinese tourism board. Remember the Visa isn't cheap to get into China either if you are a US citizen ($140). Last time I went , food was great and hotel was equivalent to a 3 to 4 star hotel in the USA

the man has to get it right, sometimes. he was right on this one! American cant compete with liar and cheater like China. u cant play straight with a crook, you always loose.

why would i want to visit a country with history of human rights abuse and dictatorship? the food was great ? really? did you check on their "ingredients"? all kind of hormones and chemicals used to grow them food. i would stay away from China

This is cheap, but it can be much cheaper. I went to Chinese newspaper hosted travel show few weeks ago, and there are bunch of them are way cheaper, I've seen them for <$500, or land only Yun nan for $99 that used to be $2k including airfare.

But now, it's good for 10 years, and if you like this kind of tour and don't mind spending sometime in the shop, you can go every year for the normal price of LAX to JFK ticket.

Those tours will arrange a lot of shopping tours, maybe up to 5 or 6 per days. The bottom line is they will get your money either from travel or from shopping anyway.

If you are just for good food, there are lots of good Chinese food in LA, why bother flying to China?

wow awesome. I have contacted them and they have emailed bunch of forms to fill out. I am kind of wary of giving away my passport # and credit card # to some chinese travel agency. Anyone has any experience with that? OP?

$299? Not buying it. Even in SF where there are a lot more of those Chinese travel agents, you aren't getting anything close to that.

Can you just show up for the flights and skip the shopping/tours?

I don't think you know what Chinese food is. Most American's don't. "Chinese" food known to most Americans is as close to real Chinese food as pasta is to ramen noodles. Yes, there are places in the US to get real Chinese food. But those are not as common and not as easy to find.

And... how is that different from the US exactly? At least they don't talk about wholesale deportations and building walls with their neighbors.
