Are we all supposed to not notice the fact that they have raised the price of their shoes again? In just over 2 years they have gone from retail prices of $325 to $395. I understand that this private equity company is trying to increase profits but they are pushing these shoes out of the value sweet spot that they have been in. If they go any higher then there will be better options at these price points. That said, $245 isn't a bad price for these shoes in firsts.

Just last year they were $385 so it does feel like they've slowed down their price increases drastically. These sales are still a great deal (though hoping Amex does their $50 off $200 promotion again)

I think it's a new business model. Yes their prices went up but they are having more sales. I think it's a "people are more likely to buy something $150 off vs $50 off but we gotta keep margins so hike up original price" maneuver. This is a pretty decent price.

Thank you OP. Bought a pair of dress and golf shoes. Really needed new Black shoes as backup when I send my other AEs back for repair.

If it weren't for the sales and seconds, I'd definitely go with Alden.

But this is a good deal. I'd prefer it closer to $200, but this is good.

Well I haven't been particularly thrilled with the fact that they've moved manufacturing of a number of their shoes to other countries (Costa Rica?) but they've always impressed with amazing customer service, so I still consider them one of my go-to brands.

Donald Pliner, on the other hand, had the slogan "Made in the Mountains of Italy" and then apparently relocated those mountains to China. Bleh. Let's hope AE never falls to such depths.

For just $245? I'm 19 so maybe this is an older guys thing but really? I could get a pair of Florsheims for half of this. Am I curious though, are they comfortable?

Once you find the last (mold) that fits your foot well, they'll be among the most comfortable shoes you'll ever own, and will outlive many other pairs of lesser shoes. Also, once they wear, AE offers resoling for many of their models.

They are literally the last pair of shoes youll own in that color- they can be resoled and reconditioned for the rest of your life direct from AE. Comparing shoes like AE to florshiem is really not even a comparison.

Maybe i did something, but i bought AE 5th Ave and in 2 months my sole had a hole... Are these shoes supposed to be fitted with additional sole before u wear it... I'm wearing a Cole Hann now and its been about a year now and still looks new on sole even with all the walking in Washington,DC.

Do u know how much they charge to resole?
