No, not the same. It has lower clock (only 3.4 GHz vs 4.0ghz) and it's not unlocked like the 6700K which allows you to increase the clock even higher than 4.0ghz.

Thanks, just seeing this now. Does anyone know if this would have a warranty from ebay? Im always wary of ordering things on ebay

EDIT: looks like there is a full warranty. Hmm this is enticing

I just purchased a 6600k for $215. Should I return it and purchase this? Serious question.

Largely depends on what you're doing. Gaming? Then No. Most users aren't going to see a noticeable improvement going from an overclocked i5 to an i7. There are exceptions of course.

If you render videos, do mass Photoshop projects, live stream, then yes. but if you only do gaming, or light use of the others I mentioned, then no

These days, CPU speeds (especially at high end) are so similar, that it is the platform improvements which I am more interested in. I retired my OCed i7-920 mostly because of the X58's lack of peripheral support, especially SATA6.

I couldnt find a comparison chart with the new chipset and the Z97...any big changes with the platform chipsets which would make upgrading to skylake worth it?

Prices coming down... are newer versions of the processor coming out soon? I'm getting ready to build a couple of new PCs but waiting a few more months for AMD polaris/Nvidea pascal and maybe the Kaby Lake refresh.
