SPG personal or Business: which one to keep?

Thread Details

Given the fact that each one carries a $99 yearly fee, I do not see the need to keep both cards anymore. However, SPG card is the one I use more often (saves me in hotel rooms). However, the main difference to me is that the Business card gives me access to the Club Room (where available), where I can get breakfast, drinks and snacks.

Is there a reason to keep both? I don't own a business

I'm assuming you are talking about a Starwood Preferred Guest card?

I don't see any good reason to keep more than one annually-feed card -- and that card should certainly provide a premium benefit to even keep it.

Without more information, keep the personal card and make sure it is worth it. Ditch the business card.

Neither. Take the points and run. Go get the Costco Visa with Citi if you're travelling.

Unless you can make up the $ spend on whatever you are saving (snacks and drinks?) how often are you staying? I'd say nope and nope.

Business cards are usually "hidden" credit lines, they don't show up on your personal credit report. That's either good or bad depending on your needs.

If you don't need the credit history, or you want to carry a balance, you can on the business card without affecting your credit score or DTI.

Closing the personal card will still report on your credit for 10 years after closure as a positive trade line.

I do stay at the Sheraton properties every 6-8 weeks all on points and that alone has saved me a lot of money on weekend getaways. I never carry a balance and always pay them in full. Score is in the 800s, so, it doesn't affect me not showing on my report.

Like a said before, the main difference to me between Personal and Biz SPG Card is that the Business card gives me access to the Club Room (where available), where I can get breakfast, drinks, snacks and other perks.

Seems like you've already answered the question for yourself. And you made me kick myself for closing my own account already. It didn't renew until August and I could have gotten a free meal or 2 out of the deal on my family trips this summer. Wife still has one. Will be interesting to see how that works out with 2 kids with us. Maybe either just the adults will eat, or just 1 adult and 1 kid. Think of it as a forced fasting diet kids, we Americans eat too much already anyway.

Recently, I took a trip to the DC area. The SPG hotel where I stayed at had a club room - a very nice buffet breakfast and light dinner was provided in the club room - free of charge for a party of 5 (I was the only cardholder).
