Thread Details

Heads up, plan ahead with Garage Sale. Could be very hot.
https://social.ringplus.net/discu...16-at-noon
This month, over 100,000 members and their families can start buying and selling activated RingPlus phones, including the attached free plan, as well as other items in a peer-to-peer network created by RingPlus.

RingPlus, a telecom with free service, has never been sold or distributed over any entity other than RingPlus itself, despite many dealer requests. In the sprit of community and RingPlus’ vision, the peer-to-peer network allows people to trade not only RingPlus products and services amongst themselves, but also other items like cars, cameras, furniture, and even self-manufactured goods in a peer to peer market place.

A. Market Size

RingPlus has finally reached the critical mass to implement these services; the amount of members alone is equivalent in size to a mid sized city in the USA. The marketplace will reach over a million people by the end of this year.

B. Functionality

B.1. Member-to-Member Phone and Plan Sales

A member will be able to list a used phone for sale, including the attached plan, using the RingPlus dashboard. After a sale is completed, all personal information such as call history, billing history, top up balance, and phone number will be removed and a new temporary number will be assigned. As a result, a phone and plan in suspend mode is ready for a new member to use.

The phone will be listed in the upcoming RingPlus classified section. Other members can purchase the phone by sending a buy request to the seller. Once the buy request is accepted (or auto accepted, if the seller chooses this option), the credit card of the buyer is charged the amount requested by the seller, plus a $10 RingPlus transaction fee. As soon the buyer receives the shipment from the phone from the seller, the phone will automatically transfer to the new owner’s dashboard, ready to use. The shipment and its cost is the responsibility of the seller.

After the phone is received and the checked for damages buy the buyer, RingPlus will send the seller a check for the money collected. If the condition of the phone is disputed, RingPlus will reassign the ESN to the original owner and refund the charge. The buyer must send the phone back to the seller.

Buyers and sellers can research each other’s reputation on RingPlus Social. RingPlus will terminate all lines and accounts of anyone RingPlus finds abusing the market place, permanently.

B.2. Sales Of Other Goods & Items

Other goods and items can be listed directly in the classified section from any members profile page on RingPlus Social. The selling process is similar to the process of selling phones with plans.

Once a buyer sends a buy request and the buy request is accepted (or auto accepted if the seller chooses this option), the credit card of the buyer is charged the amount requested by the seller. The item will be shipped by the seller; the shipment and item’s shipping cost is the responsibility of the seller.

After the item is received and the checked for damages buy the buyer, RingPlus will send the seller a check for the money collected, minus a 14% transaction fee. If the condition of the item is disputed, RingPlus will refund the charges.

Buyers and sellers can research each other’s reputation on RingPlus Social. RingPlus will terminate all lines and accounts of anyone RingPlus finds abusing the market place, permanently.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

How much of a markup on say a $30 Tribute 2 with a $25 top off?
Is this a for profit type of thing?

I think it's just about impossible to know what sort of returns you can get until a few weeks after Apr 17.

what prevents a newbie from simply buying a cheap phone and signing up for free services qith topup? wouldks any seller really benefit from selling the phones that were activated in the last month or so? i know cheap $20 phones will not be able to be activated from the 17th, but at what coast will a seller have to sell to benefit and at that cost can the buyer not buy other cheap Clean esn phones?

I haven't even read it here, guilty as charged, got to stock up on supplies before flash. Just tossing it out for those that might at least break even with flipping a plan and phone. Maybe some profit if it's open to the public. At that point they could give SD a run for the money, might be some conflicts but it's good to see new stuff.

I'm fine if people want to critic the plan but try to be fair with the thumbs until we know more. Karl is probably already tuned into this. I put it on FW too cuz it's big news.

You can't deny they're not good deals.
This thread may not be warranted, but the cell phone plans are good deals. All of them are good are far as I'm concerned, because they're free Smilie
